ParticipantRe: Whirlpool fridge freezer water leak
MOST AMERICAN TYPE FRIDGE FREEZERS HAVE A PRE-COOLING WATER TANK IN THE FRIDGE TO CHILL THE WATER.
SOME JUST HAVE A COIL OF PLASTIC PIPE IN THE FRIDGE TO PRE-COOL THE WATER.
I THINK ON YOUR MODEL IT SHOULD HAVE A TANK FITTED BUT THIS SOUNDS IF IT IS MISSING.
THE PRE-COOLING TANKS CAN BE EXPENSIVE SO YOU CAN TRY TO PURCHASE SOME PLASTIC PIPE OF THE SAME SIZE AND ROLL INTO A COIL AND HOLD IT TOGETHER WITH CABLE TIES
YOU CAN JOIN THE PIPES TOGETHER WITH PUSH FIT JOHN GUEST FITTINGS.
IF YOU CAN FIND A LOCAL BREWERY PUB ENGINEER THEY USE THE SAME SIZE PIPE IF NOT YOU CAN TRY THE WHITEGOODS SHOP ON THIS SITE.SAMURI

Check to see if the freezer has iced up as this model takes the cold air from the freezer to cool the fridge.
May be a defrost timer fault.Bob

If it is only frosting on the top six inches it sounds like it is low on gas or a compressor not pumping right if it is an older fridge it may be better to buy new as this is not a DIY job. If you decide to repair then try Repairs at on this site for your nearest repairer.

I forgot to add if you find the fan has fallen apart it still pays to replace the stat as you will find the stat will fail in a short time after a fan fault if it has not already failed.

The thermostat capillary needs to be fed down the hole until it stops any remaining capillary needs to be bent carefully to fit inside of the box/thermostat housing do not bend it to much or you will lose the gas inside of the capillary then the thermostat is no good. If you bend it around your finger so it has no sharp bends and support where it joins on to the stat so you do not break it off the stat you should be o.k.
Try to lose the excess lenth near the front of the housing away from the electrics.
It is worth checking the fan motor at the bottom front left of the fridge as sometimes the plastic box can fall apart and stop the fan this can cause the fridge to freeze.
You have to take the fan off and the box can be cliped together again if it has fallen apart be carefull as the fan motor will be hot.hope this helps

The other week Premier Inns booked the Hilton Coventry to tell there Hotel Managers they are making most of them redundent as in the Sun newspaper 2 weeks ago.
What does this tell you about value for money
I think for the type of venue we get a good deal.
See you SeptemberBob

ParticipantRe: Diplomat APM6855/1 E- Fault code
Hi Geoff
I went back to this call today this was not the normal sensor fault.
The fridge freezer was working o.k. and the temperature was ok on the visit but still showing E- fault.
I was checking it when the compressor cut out but the freezer fan kept running.
It sounds like it may be the same fault you are having and I traced it to a faulty PCB/Main module.
I fitted a new module and it is now working fine.
I hope this helps somebody if it is not the normal sensor fault as I have repaired hundreds of this model but this was the first time I have had any other fault except sensors or fan motors or door sensors.
I did have 1 a long time ago with a display module fault but this was easy to spot.Bob

ParticipantRe: Diplomat APM6855/1 E- Fault code
Hi Geoff
The part numbers depend on what version the APM6855 is as there was version 1 and version 2.
1 is marked APM6855 and normaly displays H if there is a fault this just stands for Hot out side of temerature range settings.
2 is marked APM6855/1 and displays -e or e- and means the same as H on version 1 and is normaly the sensors at fault.
The fault you discribe may be a few things it could be a compressor fault a module fault or sensors as you say the compressor only runs for a short time.
The part numbers for the sensors version 2 with sensors that plug in, in the freezer compartment are
Ambiant probe 502055700
No frost probe 502055800Version 1 sensors plug in to a pcb on the back of the APM6855 and have different part number.
I hope this helps
I will post the results of my visit on Tuesday when I have the chance to find out the fault on the APM6855/1 as it is not the normal sensor or fan fault on this appliance.

ParticipantRe: Diplomat APM6855/1 E- Fault code
Hi expertcat
Thank you for the reply
I replaced both sensors on the visit and the E- remained displayed.
As I said in my post normaly I have found H means the freezer is out of temperature range and is normaly frosted up and the no frost evaporator probe is faulty.
E- is normaly the freezer ambiant probe.
The freezer has been allowed to cooldown ok and is running normaly and the temperature in the freezer is -20 as it was set before the fault.
This is a strange one and must be a wiring fault behind the terminal block in the freezer or possible main module as I cannot set the super freeze or freezer temperature.
I will have to spend a bit more time on it Tuesday to sort it as normaly this model is easy to sort out the problems.
I used to work for Expert and think you must have as well and used to repair for MFI until they went bust.
When I find out the problem I will let you know incase you come across one like this where replacing the sensors does not cure the faultThanks again

post a reply if it is the icemaker sensor as I am sure you will find this is the fault.
