Try puting it on a rinse, see if ALL the water drains.
These machines will not spin unless all the water drains first

Almost def the timer, there is one contact (4) used to control motor action, the dryer timer just controls dry time cutting out heat last 10mins.
Try EMW for timer/module

I had this problem a while back, I replaced timer and cured the fault. I assume that when you press the start, the timer moves from the last cam position to cam 1, then normal timer functions advance it.
Expensive repair tho, maybe EMW can get you one

We give a 12 months guarantee, unless on wear and tear items, eg hotpoint carbons. Unless you can prove the customer has misused the door, unfortunately it may be better for your future business to replace free of charge. I would.
The one that bugs me is the fan oven heater elements that go within a few months.. Cant really blame wear and tear there!!

I too had a similar problem,, like funky says CHECK recirc pump. The one I went too had windings shorted with burn marks on its cover.
