ParticipantRe: indesit iwc6165
maybe to put the record straight can their be an instance where the plug will fit the new lock snug perfectly but be incorrect? i did try it the opposite way round to check and it had no chance of fitting into place only goes one way? im guessing it must be correctly fitted as its only L N common L output and im sure it would blow the pcb if incorrect? ha ha time for bed me thinks…

ParticipantRe: indesit iwc6165
cheers guys the numbers dont match anyway as they are completly different only rhe number 3 is on both locks i think and cant be put in the same position iv swapped many many plugs before but this is different… it plugs in reversed no problem at all without any resistance… pitty the old lock couldetn be bought as it would solve the puzzle as i agree the old lock may have damaged the pcb and shorted…

ParticipantRe: zanussi wks1265w
thanks Martin, yes i know earth leakage its a common problem on these WD’s but what confused me is the customer swore blind it worked ok before the blockage and it was blocked else i would have gone straight for that, maybe all the movement finished off the dryer or the customer is telling porky’s and it had previous faults…..

ParticipantRe: zanussi wks1265w
sorry typo error wjs1265w, yes i fitted a new pump to it also at the same time as removing blockage, so to clarify it fills with water’ pauses has a think about it for a few seconds then goes to 2mins or so as if its not happy with a componant then goes to fast forward drain and end.
now iv not heard from the customer today as i told them to leave it over night unplugged then try again but i think i will be lucky

ParticipantRe: White Goods Auctions
yes i agree, the internet will just keep driving the prices down further, the trend may change if a manufacturer brings out a new type of expensive machine that everyone ‘keeping up with the joneses’ wants, i shall say a prayer for wm type carbon brushes replacements to come back i miss them dearly, lol

ParticipantRe: Google reviews.
if a customer leaves a bad review it means everyone reads it, knock on the customers door and grovel, offer them compensation of £50 anything to get rid, what pi@@es me off is how many people after doing a good job review? its not a true reflection of a business…. a professional reply will help offering to put it right, address their comments and say negative feedback is welcomed as it helps improve and make positive changes(spin), explain what changes have been made…

ParticipantRe: Google reviews.
yes this is a serious problem for a business that takes care in its customer service, you should see how paranoid my dentisit is about his reviews, its the best dentist iv ever used and you could not fault them they go above and beyond the call of duty and they still get stupid reviews from moaning customers about a load of cr@p
i have one negative review from a customer who telephoned and i could not take his call and said i would ring him back soon and as i forgot to return his call next he’s online sticking the boot in calling me a incompetant engineer etc etc.
I agree with Ken the customer is always right until they take the pi@@ and are belhent on causing trouble
if your a busy local repair service you will get them! no matter how hard you try their is always some nut who will find some fault, dont take them personally.
ok here’s a top tip guys its preventative measures you need to take its no use after the dreaded review goes on, you must encourage customers to place reviews especially gets their email address on completion and send them a link, the reason is obvious it will drown out the bad review and give a balanced viewpoint, also the bad review will go a few pages down eventually.

ParticipantRe: Puting a higher rated oven element in
the correct advice is no, if it was a little higher watts rating the thermal insulation should be fine as the thermostat will cut out at the correct temperature no problem
if its a 13amp plug in type single oven forget it, the reason being is its probably or highly likely it will not blow the fuse as it will creep above the 13 amps, the fuse will not blow and next you have hot wires and im sure you know whats coming next :eeek:
if its hard wired direct back to the consumer unit with dedicated wiring its possible
watts divided by voltage will give you the max load capacity of the oven thats with all elements added that can be switched on together, so the load can not exceed the conductor wiring, even after saying that id say be careful the internal wiring may only have a slight tolerance say +15, fit a smaller wattage element even if you have to drill a few small holes to mend it in place, say a none genuine lower wattage element theirs plenty in the market i keep a big bag of qualtex elements at the ready just in case im under pressure to complete
its just not worth the risk

ParticipantRe: White Goods Auctions
Hey thanks Phil, ive read everything you have put with interest i already have taken the 44percent into account and we did manage to buy some today and found quiet a few marks and dints apart frim that they all seem to work and have warranty included but like you say i will be prepared to give the customer a warranty if they have trouble with the manufacturer, i offered a woman on the phone a beko and she said their giving them away now, lol :rotfl: instead she has bought a used bosch machine for more than the price of a new beko, theirs a nice selection of used spare parts of ebay as the moment which will help..
thanks again Phil….

ParticipantRe: Interlock basics
the old locks on wm range may have welded contacts but no neutral supply going from the lock to the board, unscrew and sling back timer check for shorted tracks, most simple repair of resoldering and replace the lock, check door seal for holes.
