when the timer starts clicking round the on light will be flashing on and off in quick succession count the number of flashes as that relates to a fault code

considering the above i would be inclined to check filter clear plastic filters are prone to not fitting well

im sorry for your distress simon and wish you a speedy recovery but i have to say it, that did make me laugh, i think it was the picture in my head of you sprinting towards the front door, on a serious note though years ago when i was just starting out it was my job to clean the hoover armatures before reconning motors, the chief engineer decided he was going to put some of it in an old sloping front and ignite it with the aid of a long mains cable with the live and neutral exposed. after he flicked the switch and we heard the bang we all ventured outside to see a round washing machine with the door 100 yards down the road. ( had to be carefull when writing this as i didnt want to include any words that big brother might consider to be anti-establishment if ya know what i mean) oh and by the way dont try this at home.

yes where the screws are where the plate is and the last 2 inches of the capilary needs to be sandwiched in between the plate and the evaporator it relies on touching it to give an acurate reading

check the capilary tube ( wire from thermostat) for kinks as this would cause exactly your problem if it is then it will need a new thermostat again im affraid

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint condensor dryer problem
its the same old chestnut aint it, if customers actually took the time to read the instruction book then we all would havr far less work me thinks. after they have told me wot a load of cr*p their machine is i then politely point out the condensor that is built up with fluff and hair, and explain that it does tell you in the instruction book to do so, then if you get call backs after that you at least have got a bit leverage to extract another charge
