Old I know but thought i’d update it, when I got to the machine it was doing nothing at all & there was garbage in the Display. Just looking at the front panel gave an instant clue, the start button was lower than all the others. Took the PCB out & found the start button had fallen to bits, I allways keep a few Tact switches in my spares kit & replacing the start switch cured the problems.

Hi Jim: Happy New Year mate, cheers for that. Will get the full model & serial numbers, machine belongs to a colleague & he’s apparently tested the thermistor & it reads in the High Megohm range. He wants to try replacing it but there are apparently no markings on it.

Nicely sorted mate, Hope you told your customer how lucky she is ?, It’s scary the amount of information there is on the Internet on DIY Microwave repair. From what i’ve seen the Majority of it is Lethal.

Hi: To be honest I don’t think that being a CCTV engineer is going to count, when I said in the Trade, I meant in the Domestic Appliance or Catering equipment trade.

    Re: DIY Electrics.

Yep: Some of the attitudes are totally unbelievable, I know we all like to save a bit of cash nowadays & i’ve got nothing against DIY. It makes me wonder how some of them sleep at night knowing the risk to their families, I went to a job a while back with a Gas fitter friend. Customer said they heard a bang & the heating went off, anyway when we got there & checked it out we found that her idiot partner had done the wiring for the boiler / utility room. He’d spurred a length of 1mm T/E off the kitchen ring to feed the boiler spur, then wired 3 double sockets of that in 1.5mm 3 core flex. The boiler was wired in 0.75 2 core flex & this was wrapped around the pipes inside the boiler & this is what finally melted to the pipes and caused the bang. When we spoke to her partner, there was no way he would believe that he could have killed them all. He reckoned his wiring must have been ok because it had worked for 6 months 😯 😈

    Re: DIY Electrics.

Had a call from the guy earlier, wanting to know what right I thought I had telling his missus that he was dangerous. Explained what i’d found & he told me there was no Danger in the junction box not having a lid because it was behind a cupboard & he did’nt believe the wiring was reversed. I stopped wasting my breath & told him to ring someone else in future. As for admitting they f***ked up mate, I don’t think it’s in a punters nature. They seem to think it’s us being awkward so we can charge more.

Oh yes mate & added a bit extra for her cheek Lol. Also told her to suggest her husband leaves Electrics to people who know what they’re doing before he kills someone, sort of got the idea that it was falling on Deaf ears though.

Who wants to answer this one politely. 🙁

Can you answer it politely ?, never had any luck talking to them myself. But some of their local Engineers are quite helpful.

Hi: The impellor is the part of the pump that pushes the water out, if the pump is blocked or the impellor is’nt turning properly your machine won’t pump out properly if at all & can cause all sorts of problems. if you follow the outlet hose back into the machine you’ll come to the pump.

Hi, Before doing anything else: Check the Filter for blockages, check that the pump is not blocked & the impellor is turning freely and that the drain hose is not blocked.

PLEASE REMEMBER: POWER OFF & PLUG OUT FIRST.
