What do you mean by Sign off on Electrics? If it’s for repairing Domestic appliances then there is unfortunately no law in this country that says an “Engineer” must be qualified.

Re: LG INTELLO WASHER NOT HEATING UP

It’s possible that you have a Faulty heater or Thermal cutout, it’s also possible that you could have a Wiring or PCB fault.
If you have a Multimeter / Megger & know how to use them then you may be able to trace the fault yourself, if not then as Tim said you need to call a good local engineer.

If tracing the fault yourself please remember: POWER OFF & PLUG OUT, getting :zap: will seriously ruin your day.

    Re: soldering irons

Oryx made an excellent 30 watt iron, i’ve had 1 on my workbench for about 10 years & it’s still going strong.
Antex make the XS25 watt which is used by a lot of service engineers for Electronic repairs. Depends on what’s available local to you really but I would steer well away from cheap irons, they don’t normally last long & the tips wear away pretty quickly. Also stay away from Instant heat guns, they’re normally rated about 100/120 watts & tend to burn print off the board.
If you want it for your toolbox a Portasol or Antex gas iron can be useful.
If you buy an Iron i would get a good solder sucker as well.

Excellent nicely found mate, you could say that motor has definately blown in style 🙂
1 suggestion: make sure there are no other shorts before re-fitting a new or repaired PCB.

Hi: Have you taken a look at:
http://www.miele.co.uk/customer/operatinginstructions.aspx You may well find the information you need there.

I don’t see much Miele stuff but I would doubt that replacement pump seals would be available.

As Spimps said, I would try a new Cap. The problem with using a Capacitance meter to test a Mains cap is that the meter only uses a low voltage to test, so it can’t really be accurate. I use an ESR meter to check Caps which is more accurate but not foolproof with Motor caps.

Re: WD440p-pressure switch error – replacing did not help

Hi: Normally you have a small unit which comes off of the washtub, imagine a length of plastic tube. On 1 end you have a smaller tube that is attached to the outer plastic tub, probably at the front. The small tube on the other end has a pipe attached that then runs up to the preesure switch, basically what happens is that there is air in this vessel when the tub is empty. As the tub fills a small amount of water enters from the tub & displaces some of the air, this travels up the tube & presses on the diaphragm inside the pressure switch & activates it. As i said previously it only takes a small amount of muck to block the aperture on the tub.
When replacing the vessel after cleaning, make sure no water enters the tube as this will cause sensing problems.

    Re: Ariston LS161, No lights?

I gave you advice on what to check in my original reply to your question.
Unless you’ve checked that & can tell us what the results were, we can’t go any further.
The problem you listed can also be caused by a faulty motor, Chafed wiring, Faulty pump etc. It’s a process of Elimination.

As for the Health & Safety Police, we are legally obliged to warn you against such dangerous practices as the testing you did.

Re: WD440P, pressure switch error but replacing did not help

Follow the hose from the pressure switch towards the bottom of the tub, it should connect onto a small pressure vessel & this connects to the washtub. If the entrance to this pressure vessel is blocked the switch can’t sense pressure changes in the tub, it only takes a tiny amount of muck to block it up. Carefully remove this vessel from the tub & clean any muck out, then re-fit to see what happens.

By the way you’ve posted this in the Dishwasher section, not washing machine section.

Re: Sarena SK300X/2 Which Element ?

You could use an Element of a slightly lower rating & it won’t get overloaded. The problem you will notice is that your oven will take longer to cook your food & you will have to adjust cooking times accordingly.
Have you actually tested the Element for continuity with a Multimeter or Megger? We allways advise doing this before buying a replacement as there are several possible causes of no heat in an oven.

Re: Bosch 498607 tumble drier elements

Your right you should’nt have to dry them out at that price but it happens with all sorts of stuff, couple of years ago I was contracting with an Electrical firm installing a £10K Sauna. As soon as you turned the Sauna on the RCD went out, so I Meggered it & got about 550K to Earth. I had to run it for over 4 Hours with the Earth disconnected to get the insulation back up stop it Tripping.

Hmm could be 1 of several places, but the tripping mains sounds like it’s possibly gone onto the Motor or pump & possibly blown the PCB.
