Re: Indesit WM12X very noisy on spin

Try what I suggested above, also when the belt is off try spinning the drum by hand. You may well hear it then without the noise of the motor.
A long shot question but does your missus make sure everything is taken out of pockets before putting stuff in to wash? If the bearing is well worn you can often feel movement when you apply upwards pressure to the drum from the front.

If you don’t feel confident in trying the repair yourself (they can be an absolute pain to do & quite messy) why not checkout the repairs@ link for an engineer local to you or if you are doing it yourself see shop@ where the bearings are available at a good price.

    Hope that helps: Andy 8)

Hope you get a proper answer soon mate.

Unfortunately this sort of fault can often happen without any fuse blowing or tripping of the house RCD, there isn’t any overload as such or leakage / short between conductors or to Earth so things can just burn away merrily until the connection goes open circuit.
Luckily this sort of fault is not that common.

Hi: What does the block look like? Mains connection blocks can overheat & melt due to loose connections on the block itself.

PLEASE REMEMBER POWER OFF & PLUG OUT BEFORE OPENING. 😯

Re: Indesit WM12X very noisy on spin

Yes the bearings on your machine are replaceable, but before you do this a quick test is to remove the drive belt, replace the back & set the machine to spin. If you still have the noise then the motor is the problem,
if the noise has gone then the drum bearings etc are suspect.

As for price: That really depends on the Engineer, you are probably looking at anywhere between £60-90 including parts & labour..

You didn’t actually say what type of noise it is your getting.

PLEASE REMEMBER POWER OFF & PLUG OUT BEFORE OPENING THE MACHINE.

But what Loop values should you expect when testing FLI?

As long as the Magnet is physically the same shape & size, wouldn’t really have thought it would make a difference. As far as I remember theyr’e not anything special.

Glad to see you getting further forward with it, funny thing is if it was a customers machine the Interlock would probably have been 1 of the first things you checked for this sort of thing.
Strange when it’s our own machines we have to fix, Logic goes out the window 😆

Re: Bosch SRS43E02GB problem – stops mid cycle with no power

1 thing to check is the continuity of the wiring from the door into the main body of the machine it can sometimes break at the hinge point, it can break inside the insulation so to all intents & purposes looks good to the naked eye.

karena wrote:I have taken the back off the dryer, the element is working, glows red, then cools down, I suppose it should be emitting heat all the time? What do you think it could be please?

There are 2 Elements on your machine & probably 1 of them is open circuit, they need to be tested to find out if this is the case. If it is then you need to obtain the elements complete, but as I said in my previous replies the only SAFE way to find out is using a Meter to check the Elements individually, it is possible that a Thermostat is open circuit stopping power reaching 1 of the elements or it could be a Control fault or Wiring fault etc, unless you can actually see that the wire of the element is open circuit you would need to test to find the fault which is why I advised that you call an Engineer as they should have the knowledge & equipment to test the drier properly & safely.

    Re: Tacho coil dropping off

Seems to be a pretty common problem on modern machines, they don’t stay attached like they used to. Have to say Never had 1 due to worn brushes but will wait & see.

Re: Zaunussi TD4212W Tumble dryer, warm air only

Hi: You really shouldn’t be inside the machine when it is plugged in & turned on it’s Dangerous, you could easily get 8O. Thats why I said to use a Multimeter for checking. 1 of the thermostats may well be faulty but it could also be 1 or 2 other things.

POWER OFF & PLUG OUT BEFORE OPENING.

Please consider calling an Engineer in to repair your Dryer, see repairs@ for an Independent Engineer local to you.

Re: Test Gear & Safety testing

Afraid that’s like asking how long is a piece of string. There really doesn’t seem to be a guideline sort of price anywhere with each area being different in what people will pay & how many actually bother to have stuff PAT tested.
You can make a bit of extra money from it, but unless you have some decent contracts with Offices, Hotels etc it’s not a steady cash generator & there’s a fair bit of outlay before you start, cheapest 1 Day PAT course I have come across is £195.00

I wasn’t thinking of them getting stuck in to the consumer unit 😯 what a horrible thought, thanks for tonights Nightmare mate I owe u 1 😆
I can’t lay my hands on the regs at the minute but if I remember them correctly all current using appliances need to be isolated before doing an insulation test on the fixed installation.

PAT testers: A lot of them are a breed on their own, done a 2 day course bought a top of the range tester & away they go. A lot of them don’t actually know how to wire a plug but are qualified PAT testers.
Don’t know what it’s like in the rest of the country but not 20 miles from me there are 2 Carpenters who also take on PAT testing jobs when work is short, we have a couple of Plumbers who also do PAT testing & Appliance repairs.
Maybe we should all do Gas repairs, then see what would happen.
