Re: Indesit Widl 126 – Lights 1-3-4 & lock flashing

Really the only way to go now is to strip the machine & check components, as LJ said the Heater element would be the logical place to start, do you own a Multimeter ? & know how to use it ?
If not, then afraid it’s time to call an Engineer.

PLEASE REMEMBER IF YOU DO DECIDE TO OPEN THE MACHINE: POWER OFF & PLUG OUT FIRST.

A Brush Motor is simply a Universal motor which has carbon brushes fitted to it. i.e the motor in your Bosch washing machine & they can and do cause the problem you reported.
Can I say definitively that the Brushes are gone in your machine & causing the fault then no I can’t, I haven’t seen or tested your machine.
I just gave you an informed opinion based on 19 years trade experience.

I know it’s not a trick question, I was having a joke with Mal, which he obviously understood by his answer. 🙂

In that situation, if you want to do an insulation test then the only way is to isolate the consumer unit & disconnect the Earth at the appliance then you can Safely carry out an Insulation test.
Yes it takes a few minutes more but it means you can do a Complete test & yes it does work. 8)

Does it have a drain hole in the rear of the cabinet to drain off moisture?
If it does it’s possible that it’s simply blocked & not letting the moisture drain away & evaporate.
Seen this happen a few times on different fridge freezers.

Hiya: Just checked for you & your machine does have a Universal motor.
The Carbon brushes are available from the shop@ link to the left, the part number is BS12102 Priced at £9.14 which is a good price for retail.

PLEASE REMEMBER POWER OFF & PLUG OUT BEFORE ATTEMPTING REPAIR, SO YOU DON’T END UP GETTING 😯 😯

Hi: Sorry but we don’t give people advice on how to repair Microwave ovens. There are no user serviceable items in a Microwave oven.
Microwaves hold a high voltage & high current charge even once switched off & basically can kill the unwary, repair should be left to suitably skilled Engineers with the specialised equipment required to work on Microwaves safely.

If it’s a brush motor then it won’t hurt to change the brushes to start off & then go from there. Did the Engineer do any Checking / Testing before coming to his conclusion ?

Hi: It sounds like the Heating element is Leaky to Earth, if you feel confident in DIY & have a good Multimeter that you know how to use for resistance testing then this is possibly a job you could tackle yourself.

If you are in any doubt then please se repairs@ for an Engineer local to you.

PLEASE REMEMBER: IF YOU TACKLE THIS YOURSELF POWER OFF & PLUG OUT BEFORE OPENING. 😯

Re: electra awm1100b eco has power/water but does nothing

Hi Mate: O.K right value & wattage but you need Axial leaded not Radial leaded, i.e with the leads comin out of either end rather than both coming out of the bottom end.
The web address you need is: http://www.cpc.co.uk

    Part No: RE 03462

    Value: 6K8 7 watt

    Type: Axial Wirewound.

Price: £1.73 for a pack of 5 inclusive of VAT but carriage is extra.

    Hope that helps: Andy 8)
