The Model No shown on the machine is C4400 & Serial No is shown as: 32042506081182.
Any service info / diagrams would be useful as I just took over the service contract for a pub & this dishwasher belongs to the owner so obviously I have the pleasure of trying to keep it working for as long as possible, has to save his girlfriends poor little hands for other things, but is too mean to buy a new ๐

ParticipantRe: Baumatic bdw13 e3
Hi: Baumatic are not a brand I often see but error E3 is shown as NTC or Element failure but could also just as well be a wiring fault, so the first thing to do is obviously trace the wiring back to the Control PCB & check for continuity.
As for the PCB as far as I know it controls everything.HTH: Andy

No wonder it had you stumped, looking for a logical reason for a fault when there isn’t 1, don’t you just love customer fault reports ? ๐

i cant find them on either the maplin or the RS websites!
am i searching for the wrong thing? lol
it says on the resistor: 6.2Kรขโยฆ J 5W
but alas i cant find an equivalent!
Hi: Tried several places to source these for you but the closest commonly available value is 6K8 either 5 or 7 watt, you could try 1 in place of the blown resistor, it won’t cause any damage if it doesn’t work. Or try your local TV repair shop, they may have some old stock lying about.
Personally I’d get a 6K8 7 watt & try it.

I didn’t actually, but these resistors going & causing this fault is not a new thing it’s been reported in the past by other engineers.
From a personal point of view I allways check high value resistors i.e 100k & over, Wirewound resistors & Electrolytic capacitors before replacing any board, it’s surprising over the years how many times this has paid off & saved a replacement board, it’s something I was taught to do when studying Electronic servicing many moons ago.

Hands up those out there that own and use a megger and loop tester?……………………all I can hear is tumbleweed rolling down the street. ๐In my arsenal if have
1 x Robin ELI tester
2 x Robin Meggers
2 x Metrohm Meggers
1 x Robin Multimeter
Ok so I like meggers ๐ and Robin
As for the argument of why do we need a ELI tester, then my opinion
is it is pointless making sure an appliance is safe if an earth fault has no where to go, ELI test confirms a good earth on the supply.Couple of questions you may all want to comment on is ” what testing should be done if the appliance is hard wired i.e through a connection unit instead of a 13a socket” This includes cookers which are also usually hard wired.
Built in appliances, with the connection point behind it, and you find it is a major job to remove said appliance although you don’t have to because you can do the repair insitu, test or no test?
Personally i’d say you test in both cases, you just use your clip leads at the appliance end instead of plugging your loop tester in via the plugtop.
Like your taste in Testgear, it’s got class.
Personally I like: Fluke, Megger, Metrotest & Martindale. Having said that Di-Log make an excellent installation tester & Uni trend make quite a tidy Insulation Multimeter if your on a budget.P.S: Think your’e a bit kinky about Insulation testers though, you’ve got nearly as many as me ๐

Hi Martin: Anything would be useful if you have it. I was going by the receipt date the guy has: Bought as new with 1 year warranty 2001 so I added the extra 2 years to be safe.
Take it, it was a bit older when he bought it then. About right knowing where he bought it ๐Thanks: Andy.

ParticipantRe: MIELE W360 failure to turn on problem!!
You never know your luck, wouldn’t it be just typical on a complex machine for something that simple to give you grief ? Did you find the circuit diagram that’s apparently tucked away inside all these machines ?
Have you contacted site admin about getting Trade access yet ? A lot more information available over there.

Not trying to teach my Granny to suck eggs or anything but have you by any chance got a break in the wiring from the front panel ? or didn’t you have to remove this to replace the on/off switch?

ParticipantRe: Microwave Question
No problem mate, glad it worked out for you.
If your considering going back into Microwave servicing, there’s a good little Analogue meter available. it’s made by pros-kit has a 9v battery & is just the right size to fit in your toolkit goes up to 20 meg resistance so useful for more than just Microwaves, about ยฃ15.00 from places such as CPC etc.Andy ๐
