Re: No earth connection on replacement oven element

Only just found this thread but totally agree with Martin on this, being a safety connection it is essential, I have seen numerous ovens where the earth resistance to internal panels was higher than it should be & therefore that Earth to the element is Definately required & I always re-connect to the element fixing.

Hi Ray: Don’t think i’m trying to teach my granny to suck eggs but i’d check the filter first then the interlock you should be able to bypass the interlock to prove the point.

Can’t see any problem with you using 2 ordinary spade connectors as long as you crimp them securely, not familiar with this particular machine but would not normally matter which way round the wires were connected.

PLEASE REMEMBER POWER OFF & PLUG OUT FIRST. 😯

Hi Mike: No ignorance involved mate, we all have different ways of doing things. Usually with connectors of this type I use AVO ultra fine electronics probes or a colleague uses thin stainless steel pins pushed into the rear of the connector & attaches the croc clips from his meter to these.

Hiya: They can be pretty useful, those made by Standard & Tenma are good and are available from http://www.cpc.co.uk at favourable prices. I think the standard 1 is on special at the minute for £25.00 + vat.

If you want to see the On/off pulses better on a Digital meter you can turn the incoming water pressure down a bit. Good luck mate.

Hiya Paul: Test leads waiting when your ready, I cover a pretty large area from SA11 to SA20 inclusive. I like catering equipment it’s bigger & often easier to diagnose, getting back into more Domestic stuff now & have to admit I quite like Zanussi stuff it’s got good build quality which is unusual nowadays.
Take it easy mate: Andy. 😀

Magnetron safety stat, Faulty Magnetron, Faulty TX, Control Electronics normally in that order.
Don’t take this the wrong way but if you don’t have the proper equipment for discharging the HV cap & Leakage / Safety testing on completion please don’t attempt a repair they can KILL 😯 .

Flowmeter works on 5 volts, 3 connections: 1 +5v, 1 Negative usually centre terminal & 5v pulsed output.
Check first for 5v supply & negative, then meter across output wire & negative, with water flowing through the Flowmeter you should see a regular stream of ON/OFF pulses at 5v, this is much easier to see on a good Analogue meter. 8)

Re: Samsung M1713N microwave – needs new light bulb

Not that I can think of no, it’s all due to the safety aspect, these can pack a fatal punch even if they have been off for a while.
If you turn the Microwave off & unplug it, you can carefully look behind the plastic panel to see if it hides the bulb. (screw fit).

REMEMBER POWER OFF, PLUG OUT & DONT REMOVE THE MICROWAVE COVER.
