This article explains problems to some degree,if there are electronocs involved in the control system condensation will be a problem in an insulated buildings subject to rapid temperature changes this may affect the operation.
Plus usually the cabinets will tend to rust more than when in an indoor atmosphere.

Apart from moving to southern Spain, not much you can do although keeping a 2ltr milk bottle and fill with fairly warm water, pop it in the fridge every morning/evening giving it something to do and it will probably help keep it ticking over.

    RCO 420 1/4 – 1/3 HP Ref: 32305

from SRW (sussex refirigeration wholesale) is an ideal replacement, replaces the toc and relay, very tidy and neat, have used many times,no problems.
likely to be an older danfoss relay on it origionally.
PM me if you struggle but would need to know the exact compressor number to size up.

Danfoss number 6 or 7 thermostat would be ok,should be some universal relays that would fit.
    Which compressor is on that?

    Re: Whirlpool K40 icemaker

From start up the machine will do an ice making cycle 15 minutes or so even if there is no water in,ie will freeze plate, when ice thickness stat senses its cold enough it engages the hot defrost cyle and supplies the cold water inlet vale which will then fill, you could fill it manually before starting up.Should then cycle normally.

    Re: chiller fridge

If it is in a cold garage around 5 – 8c it no worky, they dont pull down as cold as standard refigerators and if in cold ambient they have no need to come on although internal fan normally runs constantly.
Mechanical thermostat is usually inside on the back plate, often dont like being moved, could check for continuity, might be access from the rear by removing panel.
If it has a digital controller at the bottom its a different issue, might be an on off button on it to press?.
    What make ?

Re: Fridge freezer faulty – fridge not cold enough

If the fridge is frosting near the top of the back late it sounds like a loss of refrigerant or poor compressor performance.
Your thoughts of replacing it would be on the right line, happy shopping.
