Re: Bosch fridge freezer ice in feezer – noisy

Whatever fault is the underlying cause a defrost will be required to gain access to possible faulty parts.
Switch off for 36 hours minimum with freeezer empty and door open, lots of water will find its way onto the floor, will certainly need a couple of towels!.Could also be caused by a blocked defrost channel, you would be able to run it again after the defrost but any fault will cause it to appear again in a few weeks.

Shaun67 is obviously looking to improve his knowledge on several fronts of the applince repair trade.
Good look to him in seeking training and advice,it’s to be admired taking the time, trouble and interest to make sure he is on the right track, we can only try to advise as best as possible.
Those of us who are grumpy and old, scars and all plus it’s also down to the fact that we like to give accurate and correct advice for those young chaps making their way as best as possible.
Safe handling ,refrigerant recovery, evacuating systems, brazing, recharging are these all included in the course.
How much is practical and how much theory?
Would the qualifications be recognised by CITB,ACRIB.
If he plans to develope his skills further down the line to F-gas is this a formal qualiicaton that will be accepted by the afore mentioned, whilst giving hinm an insight into systems will it suit his needs,if he has full information it will help him decide.
Not intended to be rude by the way.

That seems very odd? That they wouldn’t enlighten you as to the course details without you paying up front to enroll? 😯

Considering their 1 week courses cost from £595 up to £895, I personally would like them just to be a little more forthcoming as to what I will get/achieve for my money before making any commitment. 🙁
You need to see a sample itinerary,a day by day breakdown of what happens, theory, practical proportions of the course they must have one,ask for it first.
If it isn’t forthcoming then look elsewhere.

Yes sad to say it can, usually blow through old one to check which is open compared to new one so as to fit the same.
Couple of hours and you will crack it.

If anyone requires help then pm me.
I started with Electrolux 1973 ish doing just domestics, when self employed from 1986 I gradually started looking when asked by customers at bigger systems,I could always rely on a fiend who worked at Lux and had a formal refigeration training to always offer advice when needed.it was the significant factor in allowing the transition, plus another friend badgered me into my first A/C install,3 systems almost 20 years ago which are still going strong.
I was then installing/servicing air con and cellar coolers, walk in fridges etc, still doing a few small domestics but dont advertise for them now (too old).
Did safe handling early on and have had my F-gas qualification for some time.
Worth doing as it opens the door for more lucrative work plus it gives me more job satisfaction to fit complete systems, plus with the introduction of heat pump technology there will be work in those.Knowledge is power dont forget.
Don’t be daunted by doing the f-gas if you feel you want to do it,they aren’t out to make it hard, those running the courses are very helpful to the uncertain candidates, never seen anyone fail yet.
It’s amazing how average some of the guys knowledge is who are working for major refrigeration companies.
Sure you can easily learn the mechanics of changing a compressor on a small fridge but to understand the system and the pressure temperature relationship it will open up more business opportunities and make understanding and solving problems easier.
If anyone wants any advice on what f-gas require sof you etc then don’t hesitate to contact me.
I remember the night befor my first safe handling course I nearly pulled out,I was thinking why am I putting myself through this, but as always it is not as abd as you think.Main thing to remember is that they prepare yoou thoroughly over the course of a couple of days before the tests, questions are multiple answers choice, you are allowed to use the text books, brazing test and show your competence in recovering refigerant, vacing a system and charging it.
When you qualify you have to have to pay for a waste transfer licence and also to be refcom registered £150 ish each.

Re: drinks cabinet chiller not working

If it’s double door there could be a condenser/cooling fan problem underneath cabinet, they get blocked with dust or fan motor fails.Single door would have the condenser at the rear depending on which make.
If thats clear then likely compressor or thermostat or refrigerant loss.

Yes remember them,I used to get quite a few “travellers” with the smart vans.Used to attend caraven rallies for the company, nice earner, tips were excellent.Didn’t usually charge them as it was a goodwill service so they gave great tips 🙂

    Re: Caravan fridges?

Yes,did them for countless years when working for Electrolux but stopped when self employed when the corgi regs came in.
Think you have to do full gas course thenan LPG add on.
Have fended off numerous requests ever since.
Bit of a grey area but better safe than sorry IMO.
I had one gut who rang me and said no because of the regs,he then turned up with his caravan, saying I pay cash no one will know, sorry I will, clear off.
I dumped countless jets and burners to ensure I didn’t weaken under pressure, 🙂 gas pressure .

Pressure washed it,elements and all, bang bang bang, oven elements grill element 🙂

No inline fuse but when bulb blew causing short it could hace damaged pcb track.

Could also be the door switch.

Possibly one of the fans, one in freezer behind backplate.
The more likely is the one underneath that cools the condenser.
Take of lower rear panel and it will be at the side of the compressor.
Check it rotates, also clear all fluff etc out of front and rear condenser (black radiator device).

Re: Miele fridge freezer KFN8452SD making loud banging noise

There can be banging from compressors when they are switched off,or the thermostat cycles them off.Usually a sign that the compressor is on it’s way out, mostly in ageing freezers.
R600a refrigerant, depending on the age if it is used is quite noisey but more gushing and gurgling.
Also expansion and contraction of panels especially on frost frees can give cracking sounds.
