ParticipantRe: Closing Down forever
I have a brother who experienced similar problems at that age but several years on leads a decent life enjoying pastimes etc so try and be positive and get the best out of life you can, there are still things you will discover that you can enjoy,it’s never too late to learn new stuff.
Eye sight is something we take for granted until someone like yourself or my brother has a problem, then it makes you realise how fortunate we are to have all our senses in tact.
Wishing you all the best for retirement.
Hopefully will be retiring in a couple of years myself, although Cameron & Co may have the last word 😯

Probably 18months ago I charged roughly £160 ish if I remember correctly.
Not an easy job to replace with the narrow freezer to work in.spimps
ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
Built in Neff washer,2 years old in rented house, not emptying.
Arrived to find machine with wooden off and the bck of machine off, full of wet towels but the complete sump hose assembly along with the filter was on the work top.
Carpeted and water stain about 4ft out from machine, pulled it out and thought I’ll put the sump hose back first, took towels out tipped it over, base held on by 2 screws only.
The pcb on this model normally clips behind the front plinth area, but it was dangling by the wires and water dripping from the casing, motor was soaking, the clever a$$e who said it only needs a new pump had done all the dismantling and then let the wet towels drip through the sump hole straight onto the pcb and motor.
Left the house saying I’d have to contact letting agents.
£600 ish machine, brainless over weight irk, no doubt on benefits with house full of kids and chelsea tractor , will no doubt squeal to the social for help.spimps

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint wma loose bearing !
If your really desperate and the customer is in agreement,Coke can, cut up,cut a strip to match the width and circumference of the bearing, lay in the bearing recess and put bearing in,there is also epoxy type quick metal you could add as well.
Some commercials and old machines had shims around shafts and bearings many many moons ago.spimps

As I said the door seal must fit correctly, use a hair dryer to heat up the seal and remould it’s shape so it does make perfect contact,if you can’t achieve it yourself then you need to get an engineer in to do it for you.A half inch wide strip of newspaper 10 inches long laid at right angles across the door face and then close the door trapping the paper,if there is resistance it’s sealing if it comes out freely you will know exactly where the problem is.
4 hours is not enough time for defrost,at least 24 hours minimum is req’d to be sure that all ice is gone.
If you do that and it still plays up it’s time to get technical!spimps

Tested the heater from the front, presume the heater can then be removed from the motor part,is that correct?

ParticipantRe: Lec TF3604W firdge freezer
Correct door fitting is of paramount importance, absolutely no gaps.
Get door fitted correctly and defrost for at least two days, you may well solve the complete problem.
