Its a built in machine so release from the cupboard fittings and see if you can undo the cabinet part of the latch on the top of the machinewhich should let the door down.
Failing that ,If the faciais already broken then it would be a matter of breaking the plastic away around the handle area until you expose a part of the door latch mechanism which you can roll over with a screwdriver and open the door, unplug first though.
    UNPLUG ❗

All the bulll about kerb side re cycling and not a word about the energy wasted on these short life span machines.
probably need an MP ‘s machine to have a bearing failure(hope jacqui Smiths free one breaks down)and realise what the sittuation is.

I used to have oxy/acetelene but let that go back as it’s too complicated with the need for extra insurance and hot gas licence etc, manage with a turbo torch and vulcan lokring but kept the OFN as it’s useful to have.
Nothing better than blowing out a condenser and leaving a worse layer of dust than a chimney sweep :D.

The small DIY air compressors are easily carried around and quite handy, nitirogen is still available from BOC or their agents.

Sounds like the temperature probe/thermistor may be the problem, there is a temperature probe kit available from Candy at around £7.00 so probably worth a go.

On the the defrost clock ((mechanical type) there is a little recess which will take the end of a small screwdriver, just turn it 5 degrees clockwise.
These clocks stick now and again switching off the appliance and stay in permanent defrost.

Re: Hotpoint FFA52 Fridge Freezer Problem

Personally I think there is a problem with the water outlet ie,the rubber/plastic non return type valve that is the final part of the water outlet blocks with ice which then backs up and ends up blocking the whole evaporator.
Earlier frost frees, especially the ocean and commercial upright freezers have a section of the defrost heater (commonly refered to as drain line heater)going into the drain tube so it gets heated as well as the evaporator, those made in the last 10 years or so dont and are far more prone to blockages.
A modification should be the solution but doubt that will be forthcoming,I usually open up the drain hole slightly so that a bit of heat rising from the motor helps to ward off this pain in the nether region!

Re: Indesit Freezer possibly on fire.

Likely that leaving it unplugged for 48 hours has allowed some ice/frost somewhere to thaw out and leak water onto the compressor this would cause a short circuit and create your problem, pretty common occurence. Bad as it looks at the time it is mostly salvagable. If it didn’t blow the fuse or earth leakage trip it may have a better than average chance.
Compressor model and type might help as relays etc could still be available.

Have an old Rowenta wet vac a customer abandoned years ago which is in the van permanently, can pull water out through the drain hose until water level is below door and then pull directly from inside machine, holds a good 3 gallons or more.Plus it completely empties the sump so virtually no water when hoses removed.

Can’t beleive how difficult it would be trying to fault find without a meggar.
On a sink unit, could be metal, then there is the earth bonding issue, scary that.
Don’t have a lop tester just the plug in device that confirms correct polarity and earth etc, might have to look into getting a combined one.
