ParticipantRe: Compressor Alternative
Thank you all for your input. Thanks also for your concern but ive replaced quite a few compressors now and done a few retrofits. I also explain to cust that opening system can sometimes create problems such as blockages which are difficult to remedy, so there is an element of risk involved. I told this cust that i would try and get him another brand of compressor as Lux one would be expensive and it only lasted 4 years anyway. He was morer than happy.
Thanks

I was thinking myself about a 1/5 HP. Ill try and get the capacity. Spoke to Lux, apparently its Australian made, and they want £200 for compressor 😆
Thanks

Hi Lerch, the product number is 3850ED3005L. I had a good look at the module but could not see any obvious signs of damage.

Any chance of a little feed back as to what the problem was and how you cured it?

Thanks for reply Simon!
From reading through previous threads (there is even one of my own in there from a year ago), it seems that if everything checks out, then melting the ice is first port of call. If called back soon after then change front PCB.Subs

Blimey! Thats some modification kit. Thats like buying a new car and having to to cure a design fault by replacing the engine, gearbox and rear axle.

Hi Martin,
I had the board out and had a good look but could see no blown triacs or dry joints etc, thats why im in two minds about it. I think i might have another look at the motor.Subs

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WF310P
As someone who always trys to help the customer out, i did explain that it was covered with a Hotpoint 5 year parts warranty and although the £90 charge was a lot higher than my rate, in this instance, (if she forgets about the fact that the m/c is only 18 months old), she was getting quite a good deal.
