some machines are wired up in such a way that if the pump is open circuit it wont fill as in why fill when i cant empty.

was it the suppressor that blew or was it a capacitor as it sounds like the capacitor is faulty.
plug out and put haynes manual in the bin i had a look at it it goes into great detail how a pressure switch works who cares if its faulty change it.

have you checked the pump is working.
the pressure switch is one click.

i would normally say plug out but by jumping mains onto the water valve you seem to be quite content with electrocution.

i had the same fault the motor brushes had worn down too far and shorted the pcb.
