ParticipantRe: BOSCH WAE2416S knocking whilst spining
I remember reading a thread where people were reminising about the good old days, purple glass Hotpoints, Hoover automatics with no soap drawers, machines lasting for years. Somebody had posted that they went to an Indesit WIDL, which had lasted a good coulple of weeks until it bit the dust, a small bit of sarcasm, a small bit of humour unfortunately sadly lacking in some posts.
Sorry if i have touched a raw nerve but no offence was intended whatsoever.
I have tried again is this better netiquitte.
Sorry i could not resist that kwatt.suedehead1
ParticipantRe: Hoover Performa AC110 – 001 does not wash
plug out first,
i would probably still check the brushes if it doesnt turn at all on wash it is more likely to be the timer. soldered joints on the circuit board can cause machine to spin but not wash.suedehead1

Penguin45.

yes it was a simple repair but i am sure you guys doing i.g. work dont take kindly to people mucking about with a brand new machine.
i remember going to a week old indesitwhich wouldnt empty, the pump was going the filter was clear there was no blockage in the drain hose.
the customer had spoke to someone he had taken the sump hose off the filter end and the drain hose off the filter end and how he managed it i dont know but he managed to put them back in the wrong place.
the pump was pumping the water up the sump hose into the machine.suedehead1
ParticipantRe: MIELE PARTS
i ordered a hose soap dispenser to tub, similair to an old hoover hose but with bigger ends. the customer asked how much it would be.
i thought hoover hose was about £5 so i said £30, when it arrived it was £75 i had to show the customer the invoice he didnt beleive me.
why do people on this site recommend them.May 16, 2007 at 11:07 pm in reply to: just changed belt on a tdl 52 tumble dryer now nothing #213912suedehead1

it doesnt matter which way the wires go. you may have pulled a wire off the timer or suppressor plug out first before checking.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint Aquarius WD23 not spinning
i would check the wiring at the motor plug first.
plug out obviously.suedehead1

ParticipantRe: Integrated Washing Machine or Washer Dryer
i hear those nice men at hoover have built in washing machine hwb 280 for about £500 and built in washer dryer hdb 284 for about £510.
dont take my word for it visit there website http://www.hoover.co.uk
this in no way constitutes a recommendation on my part just a piece of information for you.
i am sure there will be many who knock hoover but i think you will be able to make your own mind up.
but an old hoover agent might sing there praises 5 years parts guarantee etc. but i wont bother you can find out about that yourself.
i would put them somewhere between entry level and flagship.

assuming its the door seal further down the page there is a post regarding remove/replace a door seal on a hotpoint wma 66 its the same procedure.
plug out first.suedehead1
ParticipantRe: hoover we146 bearings replacement
plug out before attempting anything.
its a big job the tub assembly has to be taken out through the top of the machine, then th tub has to be splt to get the drum out then invariably the shaft on the drum will be damaged meaning that if you do change the bearings it might not last very long.
in my opinion its not really a diy job unless you are competent, i would suggest you contact repairs@ and ask someone how much they would charge to fix it.suedehead1
ParticipantRe: Hoover
i dont do any work for hoover or candy, we stopped doing it so long ago they didnt actually pay you but gave you a credit note which you could use for spares.
other manufacturers also use cheap labour through gbdar etc.
i have always had good technical help from hoover though i shouldnt need it.
we are gradually seeing the erosion of any uk manufacturing or assembly.
hotpoints as we all know are indesits now but the public doesnt know.
i used to work for british steel and we were great at shooting ourselves in the foot.( I AM STILL BITTER AND TWISTED ABOUT LOOSING MY JOB)
i dont like knocking washing machine manufacturers i will fix any make but some of the machines i see are just rubbish.
you wont get years out a beko its not worth putting a motor, timer set of bearings etc on, even if you can get the parts.
i like hoover machines i know i can get a part at a reasonable price quickly, i know i can fix them.
if its a major repair and it can be if its under 5 years old then the customer has the option of getting hoover (gias) to fix it for £90.
hoover has never been a british company a bit like ford people think they are british.
people always wak me if the hoover factory is still going i tell them yes but i dont know for how long some of hoovers vacuum cleaners recently have been a joke.
we used to fix nothing but hoover now i can do a days work and not see one.
i will continue to recommend hoover until someone tells me to stop.
what is the worst machine out of hoover, hotpoint, servis, samsung, beko, indesit or ariston?
answer I dont know but i know which one is the best its hoover.suedehead1
ParticipantRe: Zanussi not draining
the noise you hear could be a foreign object in the pump or the pump impellor could have came off.
not a big job but worth checking it before getting rid of it at worst you could be looking at the cost of a pump, rather than the cost of a machine engineers available at repairs@ link.
plug out before checking.suedehead1
ParticipantRe: Servis M6802W and large capacity washers
i personally prefer the 7kg machine hoover obviously but that is a good price for an 8kg hoover
i know that hoover is not everyones favourite but its much better than most of the machines in that price band.
whatever you buy someone will disagree with your purchase.
let us know what you get and what you think of it.
the hoover machines are well finished and in my opinion well built. -
