ParticipantRe: INDESIT W133 heater element, leaks.
I had one a couple of years ago and after a lot of head scratching it turned out that the tub WAS leaking where the metal was folded at the flange. magnifying glass and a light I’m afraid.
the word “tin” sums it up

ParticipantRe: More work than i can handle now!!
this is the first time in a long while that I’ve come in to work with no jobs booked. its been very average since christmas with the last high peak last November. it seem every other customer is out of work or soon will be and those with any money are hanging on to it. I quote normal prices and customers say “I’ll let you know”
we’re in for a rough time me thinks

ParticipantRe: Small repairs
when we had a shop we repaired vacs so here’s my take………charge an inspection fee up front or they drop it off you do the work ( if its not worth repairing you still spend time) and thats the last you’ll see of them. they’ll buy a new one when there in tesco. they take up a lot of space and you will eventually have to pay to scrap it.

ParticipantRe: Hpt Interlock
fitted one a few weeks ago you have to fit the new lead right back to the board couldnt find out why you have two leads I just used the one that fitted watch out for the emergency door release plastic stick it falls off at the drop of a hat and only fits onto a plastic peg that will snap off if you so much as blow onto it.
thats right I’m not impressed!!!!!

ParticipantRe: zanussi top loader
heater solid as a rock the module looks very much like the old jet system the one that also controled the timer advance so I’m thinking along these lines but as I said these machines are as rare as hens teeth to me so it could be an expensive guess

the proper tool will pay for its self in no time. it also looks better if the customer is watching

ParticipantRe: Mowing The Lawn?
a few years back we had a go at selling lawn mowers. sold a few but packed it in the biggest problem being the room they took up the handles always getting in the way, they covered the same floor space as two washers. god help anyone thinking of repairs in any workshop smaller than an aircraft hanger!

ParticipantRe: Dealing With “Call Backs”
just been back to a beko washer I fitted a module to in June last year module gone again just checked with Connect and their gurantee on spares is now only three months. my gurantee was always six months and I’d usually stretch a bit, but on expensive parts like this I just cant take a hit. I think I’ll have to review my generosity.
