I use a piece of 1/4 ply inbetween the tub and the cabinet lay the machine on its side and slide the tub out.
Bad backs are an occupational hazard I used to find changing the old 879 hoover timer was a real sod intense bending could be harder work than lifting!wilf

ParticipantRe: Yellow Pages
YP and yell.com plus the local phone book as far as I can see is a must. and as for looking up for services YP is my first port of call but like Bryan I’m usuall looking for someone I know so chances are my customers are doing the same thing. I dont use anyone tradeing with just a free phone number or a mobile number in my oppinion this makes a firm look like a hear today gone tomorrow get rich quick outfit.
best ads are word of mouth and silly things like church magazines where the bod in charge of the adverts are known as a mine of information that can usuall point anyone in the direction of any local service.
well thats what I think!wilf

a wet and dry vac is a must. with a squeegy tool you can tackle any wet job knowing your not going to have to kneel in a puddle and impress the customer with professional touch that stops the mess!

ParticipantRe: One piece welded tub seized solid!
chances are that with the rising costs of raw materials for manufacture and oil for transportation we will proberbly start to see a general increse in finished goos prices. cutting quality to bring in at a price will in the end harm the brand name as will the lack of thought for servicing. when times are hard and money tight I’ve always found people will look to repairs or buying better quality to last.
most of us have been in this game for long enough to know how to keep our customers happy. that ,for me at least, means being able to carry out a reasonable cost repair or advising on quality.

ParticipantRe: Magnetic Motors
if I remember right synchronous means it runs synchronous to the supply frequency. asynchronous runs slower than supply frequency usually 1-2{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} (this is called the slip) as the rotor emf is induced from the stator
wow its over thirty years that I last had to recall that!!!!!!!!

take the RH side off take the top LH screw out then theres enough to check the guides and slip the belt around the drum. you’ll need the special tool to fit the belt (or a swear box ) 😉
