Thanks very much for that, I tried the diag mode and it won’t do it for some reason, it just acts like I pressed the power button by itself, I tried it many times, trying how I did it, and using diffrent buttons etc, when you turn it on, all lights come on, then after about 5 seconds, it just goes left to right with the lights for the stage of the spin cycle.

If I press the reset that works, but I can’t press most buttons, I can adjust the water temp, and the spin speed, the water level lights are blank, and I can’t access the fast spin speed but the other speeds work and can go up and down, if I press power it turns off, and advance it does nothing, every other button (ie spin cycles and water level just beep 3 times quickly when pressed)

I read through the instructions a few times also, and I’m sure I’m doing it right, for a stage 3 diag (mw051)

maybe it’s the control unit???? any idea what a control unit is worth, just trying to work out if it’s worth trying to get it fixed or not..

    Regards

Washing machines and dishwashers always seem clean at first glance. But they are not that clean. During every wash, crucial (often invisible) parts in your machine become tarnished with limescale, soap and dirt deposits. These deposits wear out the parts, causing malfunctions. Not only does this prevent the machine from working, but it also causes other problems, such as: washing that is not clean, washing programmes that take longer, machines that do not heat sufficiently, if at all and/or machines that keep on pumping. The most familiar example of a faulty part is the heating element. Before it finally breaks down, it will not have been working efficiently for a long time. But there are more parts susceptible to dirt deposits. That is why professional wasshing machine and dishwasher engineers always clean the machine completely after repair, to be quite sure that another part does not break down as a result of deposits in the short term.
Now you can prevent malfunctions as a result of deposits by simply cleaning your washing machine and dishwasher every quarter with HG service engineer for washing machines and dishwashers (also used by professional service engineers). Thus you can prevent filters, floats, drainage pipes and other parts that are difficult to reach, from becoming dirty. Rubber joints remain elastic and water resistant, preventing leakage and short circuiting.
Naturally, all the visible parts also become shiny and clean, not only making the machine as new on the inside, but also visibly new on the outside.

I’ve been searching for a wonder product for years and now I’ve finally found it.

I and my customers can now sleep at night knowing that the machines I work on (now that I use this product) are cleaner (inside and outside), not tarnished.

Parts that were previously invisible to me have suddenly appeared.

The machine is no longer making clothes dirtier than when I put them in the machine.

That the product will obviously work better than any detergents and so I’ve tossed them all.

That I can now eat off the dinner plates knowing that other detergent caused them not fit to be used.

That even the timer will run faster.

Miracle upon miracle the element is now more than 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} efficient. (saving on power bills.)

That the element will (miracle upon miracle) self repair.

No longer will I leave dirty drainage pipes.

    Rubber joints won’t short circuit

All those spares I’ve been carrying I can now throw away as all I need to do is sell cleaning products and I’ll save the world.

Of course I am concerned as to how do I prevent all that new found dirt clogging the machine the first time I use this product.

The Software Manager, The Computer Timer Manufacturer, and a Sales Manager are testing a new washing machine when a solenoid blows.
The software manager says, “I can’t do anything about this – it’s a hardware problem.”
The Computer Timer Manufacturer says, “Maybe if we turned machine off and on again, it would reset itself.”

    Too much steam?

    Is it vented properly?

    Is it Gas or Electric?

    Who installed it?

Is it under Manufacturers warranty or Statutory Warranty?

Not fit for the purpose intended?

I’d be chasing the installer first (or checking the installation) and then going to the retailer/manufacturer.

You shouldn’t and don’t have to put up with an inferior product!!

Penguin 45 is right that the cold water solenoid is faulty

Their 12 volt supplied coils however should read 15 ohms and are basically bullet proof at these voltages

You should first check that the water runs freely through the hose and that the filter in the valve opening where you attach the inlet hose is free of debris/dirt

The valve itself is however a major source of income for repairers as their diaphram is of poor quality and will therefore split and subsequently won’t let the water through properly.

Also these machines only rinse on cold water so a hot fill selection will not bypass this component.

Likewise the hot and cold valve are different and so cannot adequately be swapped

Drain the machine to avoid reboot errors

Ensure the power and water are off and disconnected at the wall.

Take all precautions not to get water in the electronics else forced air drying for a lengthy period will be required.

    A most unusual fault

Do you have the spin speed slow and hold LED’s ON when you are are reading this fault code

As per Penguin 45 this fault code indicates the fault would be in the display module.

Turning the machine off at the wall and waiting >5 seconds could reset this problem or a replacement of the Display Module is indicated

    Did you run tests “8.2” & “8.3”

Did the pump run continuously without fail until turned off

A five minute pump test would be ample in case the pump is failing on overheat which would occur in less than five minutes.

The pump on overheat would need a similiar time to cool down before it will work again if overheating is the problem

Also did the valves let water in until you released the button.

Did your “Out of Balance” switch test OK

You could test the values of those resistors in circuit in the power module to prove/disprove their integrity, but again the fault code readout you posted indicates the other module is at fault.

Having been able to run the machine with it having pumped out indicates a different failure.

Never disassemble a machine and work on it with the power on.

Firstly I would contact F&P on 1300 650 590 (24hrs) and complain loudly and long.

They can be quite reasonable so tread softly to start and then turn up the heat if they dont come to the party

Warranties offered by Manufacturers (2 years on your machine?) have no real meaning, so do your research and contact Fair Trading as to Statutory Warranties.

I’d avoid contacting this State Government Service between 9 – 5 Monday to Friday.

They don’t want to be there and do real work.

However if you phone five different times you will get five different responses.

Pick the one that your most happy with ensuring you get the persons name and quote this in any correspondance should you need to pursue that path

The Control Board would cost you up to $250 to purchase plus up to $100 to have it fitted.

Penguin45 is correct that the major components could have caused the problem and so fitting a replacement board could cause the replacement to fail immediately.

Also there is no warranty on electrical components fitted by yourself so the exercise could double in price.

If you post your email or fax no., I’ll send you the Diagnostic sheets that will assist you if the machine powers up and less so with major components electrical values.

Unless you are experienced in electrical testing these electrical values will mean very little to you and although the components may give the right reading as per the sheets, the components may still be faulty.

Believe me, I’ve learnt from many years of experience that you can’t take things at face value.

Especially with Vax/wax motors which are a newer and increasingly common device and can test perfectly and then short as soon as power is applied.

Of course the same applies to you that you can work perfectly and then as soon as power connects, Kaabooom…. Dead, so don’t handle appliance with covers removed, 240 volts connected, and without the necessary skills.

A D.I.Y washing machine repair is just not worth a life.
