Yes, I checked for 240V between the terminals on the suppressor and the supply cable to the PCB. So the board is getting a supply. 😕

ParticipantRe: Elba PX906 Gas Cooker
Also look it up as a DeLonghi PX906. Same manufacturer. 😉
I own one of these and they are a doddle to strip down. 2 screws under middle burners, 2 screws at the side and 2 at the back of the hob. Remove the side trims and the hob hinges up. Disconnect the earth wire at the back of the hob and the whole plate can be lifted off. Caution – hob edges are razor sharp!! All parts are readily available; including the fascia.
Connect are the main dealers for Elba and Delonghi – but it’s worth a try to see if you can order DeLonghi parts from your supplier. But as P45 says, Dave Conway can get them for you.HTH,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: UKW Subs Funding – the future?
I am looking forward to meeting Martin at Sibson!! His counter arguments are useful as they give the “why should we?” reaction. And, to a point, he speaks for a fair sector of this trade. “DASA have failed us: so why should any new TA be any different?” could be the conclusion for many.
Now my father always taught me that the only time you can say “Why should I?” is the time you have exhausted all the reasons to say “Why shouldn’t I?”.
I need ID for schools and rest home work; and as I am on the local hospital intranet as a trusted trader I find that an ID card speaks a thousand words, even if it is not studied by the viewer in any great detail.
Most people in the public sector have ID cards and it could be said, well, what’s the point, as everyone in their department knows who they are. BUT- we come in from the outside world and a visible form of ID hung from a pocket or belt chain would go some way towards addressing the curious desk clerk or security guard. 😉
Yes to the ID cards with TA logo and photo. Yes to moving the subs’ loot into a higher interest account.Steve.

Most likely failure would be the capacitor. Access to the capacitor is gained by removing the right side body panel – now look for the small cylindrical part with 2 wires sited near the motor. Fitting is basically a straight swap.
Getting the correct microfarad rating is essential. This will be printed on the capacitor. (from memory, 8uf).
Power off, and plug out before any inspection commences. :plug: Sometimes capacitors hold a residual charge; this can be discharged safely by carefully removing the tags with insulated pliers and placing an insulated screwdriver across the 2 terminals. (ie: momentarily connect them together). Most likely the capacitor will not be charged, but it is worth taking the aforementioned precaution. 😉
Click the Shop@ banner for the correct spare.Hope that helps,

When I left the owner was digging a grave in the middle of the lawn. It’s a heartbreaking experience when a pet dies naturally, but an absolute tragedy to lose one in this way. I’m sure most people on this site would agree with that.
Could you please pass on our sympathies to the dog owner, Graham. 😥Hope you are feeling OK now.

P.S. I’d PAT test and then run each machine through fill, wash, heat, drain and spin parts of the cycle. They should be OK after drying out for a day or two. To be sure, put a dehumidifier in the room for a couple of days to draw out the water – probably a worthwhile exercise anyway considering the amount of water discharged.

ParticipantRe: Another joke.
Little Jimmy is sitting at the back of the class with his hand down his trousers. His teacher notices and says, “Jimmy, what’s wrong? Why have you got your hand down your trousers?” “I’ve got a tummy ache, Miss”, he says. “Oh dear – well, go and see Mrs. Nicholls in the staff room and she will be able to help you”.
About 20 minutes later Jimmy comes back to class with his tackle hanging out of his flies. ” Jimmy!! screams the teacher over the children’s laughter, “put it away now!!”
“I can’t Miss”, says Jimmy, “Mrs Nicholls said my Mummy’s coming to collect me but I’d have to hang it out to the end of the lesson.”aqualectric
ParticipantRe: Zanussi DE6855 NOT filling?
IWMS accessed from the left side of the machine. First undo the 2 screws at the back of the lid and remove. Now remove the door lower panel – not the fascia. Next remove the plinth (2 screws). There is a metal panel behind the plinth – take out the 2 screws and prise it up and out of its location. Then undo the 3 screws at the back of the left side panel; one on the top at the front. The side panel can now be removed by pulling the panel out from the back and pulling it forward out of the locating slot.
To remove the IWMS – from the plinth access – unclip and remove the plastic ‘hockey stick’ pipe. Be ready for some water leakage. Then pull off the small hose above the hockey stick pipe. Next remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the IWMS; prise and release it from the snap clips at the top and gently pull it away from the water softener. Some more water will be released. Mark the wiring and disconnect the valves. Unclip blue fill feed pipe.
Clean out or replace the IWMS as necessary – replacement is best as it is the long term solution. 😉 Shop@ for the correct part.
And to quote Haynes’ manuals – “Reassembly is a reversal of removal” (translated’ means “I’m not writing all that again!!”).Power off, plug out before starting work. Stay alive! :plug:
Hope that helps!

If you get caught out without a 3/4″BSP cap when you are replacing an old machine with a ‘cold fill only’ new one, or when you see a vulnerable tap exposed at the back of the cupboard, here’s a handy way to make one on the spot.
1) Using the scrap old hot hose, saw through the plastic 90 degree elbow and remove the red finger nut. Save both the washers.
2) Find a 10 pence piece.
3) Put a hose washer either side of the 10p and press into the nut.
4) Fit to the end of the hot supply tap as you would fit the hot hose.
5) Tighten, turn on and test for leaks.I used this method quite a few times, especially when Zanussi introduced their ‘cold fill only’ Jetsystem machines in the mid-eighties. It works perfectly!!
Hope that helps y’all!! 8)

ParticipantRe: New tumble dryer – advice needed
Hire a 4″ core drill from a tool hire centre – this will cut a perfect hole through the wall with little mess. No need for bashing out bricks and the subsequent making-good afterwards – the vent kit solid pipe will be a snug push fit. 😉
Hope that helps,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: Bearing kit for Hoover TV30 Tumble dryer
The “bearing” you are about to buy, however cheap, is actually just the drum shaft kit with 3 rivets. Completely useless without the bearing for it to fit into. 😉 The bearing is not available separately; crazy, but true.
Iadom is right – unfortunately, and we both speak from frustrated experience of many, many customers in your position.
This drier is a Candy in a dress – and this bearing unit has long been it’s Achille’s Heel. Now, you either get the manufacturer to repair it, with a whole drum assembly (uneconomical if not under warranty) or the other option is to buy a better quality drier. Yes, it will cost more, but sadly, you have experienced the alternative. 😥
Sorry we can’t help; we wish we could!!Steve.

Thanks for that, Jim!! 😀
That’ll save me ordering bits I don’t need. Still don’t see why the hot fill is termed “flushing valve” though. 😕Steve.

Don’t Indesit have any idea what their machines are fitted with??? 😯 You couldn’t make it up!!
Thanks, guys; looks very much like I’ll have to go back and see what’s fitted to this heap.Cheers anyways,

ParticipantRe: hotpoint wd420g
Give Hotpoint the serial number for the machine – that is irrefutable proof that this piece of “Indes*it” is under 5 years old. What an utter cop-out. Shows how much faith they have in their own machines. And the indifference to their customers. 👿
Usual blower fan problem is the plastic fan fouling on the drier housing. The difference between the old fan and the new fan when placed side by side flat (blades upwards) on a table, is that the new one is 1/4″ smaller (thinner) than the old one. Hence it doesn’t foul any more. Methinks this must be a known fault. 😉 I’ve fitted quite a few of these fans.
In the event of not having a fan on the van, I have just carefully cut 1/4″ off the fans and refitted them. No problem at all. The stat on the drier will have failed because of the lack of passing air.
EMW could probably test and repair that board – probably the cheapest option.Hope that helps,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: Hoover Twin Tub Pump
I’ve got a really clean ‘low mileage’ s/hand pump / valve unit that I was keeping as a spare for my elderly neighbours. They have scrapped their machine so now it’s no longer needed.
No sign of leaks; both valves work and the pump base looks as new!!
PM me and I’ll send it to you!!
1 off I’m afraid. 🙁Hope that helps,
Steve.
