ParticipantRe: Is this the end of the line?
These older style Zanussi machines were reliable and well built – the blue syphons mentioned are only a part of the fill metering system. The blockage could be in the ‘U’ shaped link pipe underneath the machine, or a wiring fault in the door (as P45 has mentioned).
When I revamped my kitchen 19 months ago, I scrapped my Zanussi Z30 dishwasher (it was 22 years old and still working perfectly) and replaced it with an integrated Whirlpool dishwasher. (which incidentally has already cost me a new motor and an NTC probe – and I’m in the trade and able to fix it myself!!).
The Z30 is the machine that your Z604 was derived from and is very similar in design. Now, I can’t say yours will last 22 years, but if you bought a new and relatively basic dishwasher today, the Z604 would easily outlast it. (even at 10 years old).
Only Neff/Bosch and Miele would compare today. And they’re a lot more expensive than a repair….. 😉Hope that helps,
Steve.

E7 is probably flow meter failure – a part of the water inlet system. Not too expensive to fix; but best to get an engineer to confirm and repair. Click the Repairs @ banner to contact an approved engineer in your area.
Hope that helps,

ParticipantRe: Hoover WS130 only spins sometimes !
Is the filter clean? It is hidden behind the front kick panel. Remove this and undo the small screw until the filter will turn anticlockwise. BEWARE – some water will escape – so have a tray and some old towels handy.
Clean the filter unit and refit as a reversal of removal. If the problem persists, or the filter is clean, then it could be a coin stuck in the sump hose. (the coin moves and causes the machine to drain intermittently). Lean the machine back to locate the sump hose. Remove at the pump end only and shake into a small bowl. Not uncommon to find coins here. Check the pipe on the filter housing (that the sump hose connects to) for any obstructions.
Power off before any investigation. :plug:Hope that helps!!

ParticipantRe: zanussi fla 1201w overfilling
Taking the manifold (filter housing) right out of the machine is the only surefire way of cleaning it. It only takes about 10 minutes at most to remove with the machine tilted backwards. Once out, remove the pump and filter. The easiest way to clear the pressure chamber is to loosen the crud with a wire and then firmly tap the housing on a hard surface and the muck will just slide down and out of the pressure chamber. Easy!!
You can then rinse the whole assembly and especially the pipe at the back of the filter – usually blocked or full of sand. Refit the pump and reinstall the manifold in the machine.
It’s a fiddly job but it safeguards your insurance! The amount of crud released from a blocked housing on its own is enough to surprise the customer and will serve to inspire confidence in your thorough approach to the job. Worthwhile IMHO.Hope that helps,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: Oldies
Hoover W2054 single tub repair last week – outlet hose was split.
Mind you, the only parts in the machine were the motor, a belt, the wash impellor, sump and drain hoses. The machine was unmarked. (I also removed the original ‘C’ shaped cardboard transit packing from around the motor. The belt used to use the weight of the motor to tension it. The machine had worked perfectly like this for all this time). Yet she has used it twice a week, every week. This was its first and only fault.
No heater; no on/off switch; no pump (gravity drain – AKA drop the hose down into a bucket). Amazing!! 😀
She was delighted that I could repair it ( :rolls: ) and it lives again.
I miss those days………. 😥Steve.

Insulation test the motor – probably the armature shorting. Qualtex ARM20 is the cheapest way to fix it. 😉
Hope that helps,

ParticipantRe: TESCO £99 WASHER
Well, that’s Miele finished and Bosch……AEG and Hoover…..
Anyone who owns a Servis will quickly regret it anyway. Self-fulfilling prophecy.
Does anyone know if that £99 includes the WEEE charge? 😉 If it does, it’ll cost the customer more in continual recycling fees than if they bought a proper machine. BTW; is this machine a Merloni?
And that £50 warranty for 3 years? Who’s going to be daft enough to take on that contract?Steve.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WF430 Bearing Kit
I’ve done 3 of these ‘upgrade’ jobs. Normal WMA drum half will mate perfectly with the front half of the 30mm drum. (Note: Entering the model number of the 30mm machine, Connect show no 30mm parts; their subtext says you should use earlier 35mm drum half and spider). I always keep a s/hand tub half just in case.
No fitting problems, no compatability issues – and the drum sits perfectly in the cabinet. 8) All three working sweetly!
A first for Merloni – something available that actually improves the machine!!HTH,
Steve.
P.S. 1604600 – that’s the first time I’ve been able to find the 30mm kit on Connections – and not for the want of trying! :rolls:

ParticipantRe: Zanussi Aquacycle 1400 FLE 1416w
Firstly, have you cleaned the filter recently? If the machine senses water in the drum beyond the time allowed by the computer for the pump to have fully drained, it could ‘time out’ and go into fault status.
Check the filter taking care to drain down the remaining water (using the small grey flexi-hose next to the filter). Then remove the filter. If it is clean, then you may have an outlet hose blockage or a worn pump.
Do these checks before suspecting the PCB computer.
If you have completed these and it still malfunctions, click the repairs @ banner for an engineer in your area, as the cost of a new PCB is high, especially if it’s not necessary. 😉
Power off before inspecting!!! 😀Steve.

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFL2260 leaking
You will need to detach the door gasket from the front of the machine (not the drum yet) and inspect underneath it. Water traces on the concrete weight will be the obvious giveaway. Check the seal both sides carefully for splits or holes.
To obtain a replacement gasket, click the ‘Shop @’ to get the right part. You will need the ‘E nr’ number and the ‘FD’ number (found on a sticker above the gasket) to order.
Power off when inspecting!! 😀Hope that helps,
Steve.

The model number ZWX1600W is not recognised by TDS. 😕 Have you got the PNC number? If so, can you post it and I’ll see what I can find for you. 😉

ParticipantRe: Zanussi Washer W1042W No spin
Fairly common fault with this timer (AKO 513316). They suffer with no spin faults and ‘quick advance’ and ‘aborting cycle’ type problems.
EMW do these @ £39.90 + VAT. (New = £65 + VAT.) 😉Hope that helps,
Steve.
