    Re: Belling cooker clock.

    Thanks Gandh1!!

    I’ve found a timer listed for a Belling 663; part number 082603663. The price is a joke – £186 + VAT at Connect and £171 + VAT at Qualtex. 😯 Is this right??

    Any help please!!

    Thanks,

    Steve.

    Have you checked the integrity of the insulating band under the contact track around the drum? If there is a short here it will affect the heating…..:wink:

    I’ve done this job, tried all the combinations…..and honestly, guys, heed Jim’s advice and fit the new bits or quit while you’re ahead. This really is a “kitchen sink” job and unless you can make a good one out of 2 machines then it is not worth the bother. The drums are slightly different and the felt bearing as it was is not available. I’m all for saving stuff from landfill, but I value my sanity too…… 😆

    Re: Hoover Candy – are they OK now?

    I really detest Candy / Hoover stuff these days. Helo is right about the electronics, water ingress through the lid and the selector is directly underneath…POP!! What happened to the IPX4 rating?
    The ribbon cables that chafe on the motor mounts…. PCB goes POP. Driers that require a full strip down just to change the capacitor….. Frost free fridge freezers that fail the moment your tail lights disappear?

    I was trained in a Hoover biased enviroment and then, (1980’s) yes, they were good. Noisy, but good. Their inherent simplicity and loads of features meant they were easy to sell and lasted even in harsh working conditions.

    I’ll repair them, but definately wouldn’t recommend one today. 😥

    Re: Zanusi TD523 dryer noisy

    It’ll probably be a worn front bearing felt. Put your hand in the drum and feel down at the front of the drum. There will be a gap in between the drum itself and the plastic front housing. Push your fingers gently into that slot and drag them around to the top of the drum, keeping them in the slot. If the gap is wide at the bottom and closed at the top, the front bearing felt is worn out.
    Replacement requires strip down, drum out and rebuild. Usually worthwhile on these driers. Once the felt is fitted, the interior vaccuum’d out and the moving parts lubricated, it should run like a new ‘un. 😉
    Also check the back bearing for wear by removing the little white cap at the back of the machine and check for metal grindings. Felt and back bearing are both inexpensive parts. Even if an engineer does the job, it will be loads cheaper than a new one.
    Repair is preferable to replacement as the new machines are no better……

    Unplug the machine before any inspection starts…..:plug:

    Syphoning or blockage in the outlet hose. One will cause continual fill and empty and the other will slow the machine to a snail’s pace.

    Re: zanussi zwd1261 wont spin

    This machine uses the Ako VS81 timer / module control unit. If the motor is shorting, the timer will try 3 times to spin the load after distribute and then move the timer to ‘Off’. Fault will probably be:- Worn out brushes; shorting armature; loose or detached tacho magnet or finally timer.

    Re: Whirlpool/Prima Dishwasher not heating

    It could be a break in the door wiring loom. Separate the 2 halves of the wiring duct and look carefully. 😉

    Hope that helps,

    Re: CDA In built dishwasher

    This could be a Whirlpool or a Smeg. Whirlpool drain pump is on the front left of the sump and the Smeg version will be fitted in the front corner of the machine on the right. Do you have any other details ie:- 85….number or similar?

    It’s a Smeg in panto. 😉

    Module shown on Connect; part number 5031688113213. Now the dreadful bit….£140.81 + VAT cost…… 🙁
    I can’t find a cross reference to the equivalent Smeg though…..sorry!!

    200w is not going to make a huge difference to the stat switching. Having said that, I would tend to fit the correct element and be looking at the fan motor slowing when hot or faulty door seals or hinges TBH.

    Re: Hoover/Candy CMD146-80

    Probably main PCB. 😥

    Look for:-

    1) Green corrosion on the selector unit connections caused by poor lid sealing – can blow the PCB;
    2) Water traces on the pump (blows the board);
    3) Ribbon cables chafing on the motor mounts; shorting out to earth and blowing the PCB.

    Lovely machines these Candy offerings………. 👿 EMW repair and reprogram these boards. Some new ones are supplied non – configured, so watch out for that. 😉

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.
