ParticipantRe: Zanussi ZBQ965X … Clicking noise?
Have you set the clock to “manual” ? If you have and the oven still doesn’t function, then it could mean a faulty relay in the clock unit – the clicking would suggest this. When an element fails it can sometimes (unfortunately) blow a relay in the clock. The relay switches the element, the fan motor and the lamp so everything will appear dead. The grill may still function though.
Clock units are expensive so it may be prudent to get an engineer to check it first. 😉Hope that helps,
Steve.

Went to a Hoover 8kg today – bonded tub. 🙁
Whatever way you look at bonded tubs, they are bad for the customer; bad news for the repairers, and bad for the environment. Good news of course for the manufacturers while the public are unaware, that’s the only bit of the equation we can hope to change. And we have to try.
I’m sure it would certainly not be ” 8) ” if this was all happening back in 1975……….. 😉Steve.

Phidom, can you post a transcript of what you said please, then others (like me) can follow.
Cheers,

ParticipantRe: T/Bendix AW1000W won’t heat – timer?
Try the NTC – if it is shorted it will bypass the heater section. The values for the NTC are:-
@30 deg= 17300 ohms
@40 deg= 11500 ”
@60 deg= 5460 “
@85 deg= 2320 “It is fairly common for these timers to fail on heat, but check the NTC first. 😉

ParticipantRe: Beko 1512W a/w
I had a very similar problem to this – the timer kept aborting when washing. It ended up being the PCB causing the fault. Took a while to sus it out though…..
Have a look here:- http://www.emwelec.co.uk – stock item.HTH,

What a good idea Ken, my customer wants someone’s head on the block. The Watchdog route could be explosive – she’s furious so she’d be up for it all right. 😈
I’ll “suggest” it tomorrow………… :stir:Steve.
P.S. I’ll almost certainly put an ISE 5 in there if she fails – so life’s not all bad…. 😆

ZWF1221! Well that does sound familiar……. 👿
2 in the last 2 days – both bearing failures – one was 16 mths old, the other one today was just 13 mths old. But as if to add insult to injury, the poor lady found that Currys had charged her £3.99 for her first installment of her extended warranty, but no further money was taken from her account as the mandate had not been forwarded. How unlucky is that? :rolls:
13 mths? Electrolux should hang their fat corporate heads in shame. What an utter disgrace!! I would really like to know how they can justify this wanton waste of materials.
Mind you, I would really like to know who in the world really gives a tuppeny toss anyway…………. 😈Steve.

ParticipantRe: Miele belt squeak
Eh??
What was that all about?
My post was on a serious note; and to infer that anyone would be stitched up buying a Miele is really not on. They are a good quality machine and some other brands can be very lacking compared to them. That’s where I was going with that thread.
Yes, an ISE 10 would be an excellent choice for heavy workloads as it is a superb piece of design and engineering. 😉
Brian could be quite offended by the smutty bits though……. 😯aqualectric
ParticipantRe: hotpoint gec motor eart leakage
Probably a field coil to earth. Seen it many times. There’s not a lot you can do at this point – unless you have a secondhand motor to donor the field coil. Hotpoint used to do this as the GEC type motor was being phased out. They used to include a slip of paper with their new motors to say that due to Hotpoint’s commitment to recycling and the environment, they were using recycled end frames and stators and fitting new armatures and brushes.
Ahhh, how nice of them. We had been doing that for years – we just called them recon motors.
The FHP is the only motor to fit in it’s place now. Better motor than the GEC IMHO, and about £42 ish + VAT. Not too bad. 😉Hope that helps,
Steve.

ParticipantRe: Miele belt squeak
:hmm:
It seems it’s not just the belt that’s smoking something! 😉 We’ve gone off on a psychedelic tangent – this subject is serious!!
Brian, I think you have a valid point here. It should be a requirement that every manufacturer should, in finite detail, present the terms of use of appliances to clarify their “contract” between themselves and the end user. Every scenario must be presented. Even if you have a problem with your machine and the manufacturer calls to repair it free of charge, that still doesn’t make it fit for purpose. It could still go wrong. Washing for all those kids should make no difference to the warranty unless the manufacturer has stated as such.
Now, if this had been explained to you at the point of sale, would you still have spent that amount of money? Were you honestly led to believe that £1400 would buy you a quality machine that would never require a repair? You could have paid a whole lot less, even a quarter of that figure and got a machine that would have looked and washed in exactly the same way. It may have even been in a delectable silver colour and resembled the Miele in everything but name. The trade, with decades of experience would have told you that Miele was an excellent choice for quality and reliability: probably one of the best machines available. They would have advised you that the cheaper machine was a lookalike but not to worry, as the consumer laws could be brought to bear and the machine would be swapped without question. So why spend that much? It’s one to consider….. 😉Steve.

ParticipantRe: Prima LPR813/01 oven clock confusion.
Thanks very much!!
It seems the P6 wire is the answer. I’ll chop it, loop out the PCB relay and report back if all is well. The switch then is the only means that the lamp can receive power.
Both of these ovens are owned by pensioners – both detest them due to the clock problem – but otherwise the ovens seem to be quite good units. To convert them to manual operation only is exactly what these customers want.
I am looking forward to sorting this problem.Thanks again Brian for your time and effort!!

ParticipantRe: neff B1322 fan motor.
MTR213 or MTR213ECON both from Qualtex should fit. I’ve not come across a Neff oven yet that I could not fit one of these to. (maybe a little tweaking required sometimes).
About £34.00 + VAT. in stock.Hope that helps,
Steve.
