I find the tool for this is my junior hacksaw. Take the blade off and use the handle of the tool as a hook to pull the belt over the jockey pulley. It works … honest!

I would always replace the belt with a new one and remove one of the drum lifters to check for any foreign objects in the drum.

Check to make sure that the black plastic mount is in place on the back lug of the motor. Had one only yesterday. The pivot was loose which meant that the motor shaft is not parallel to the pulley and hence the belt runs off the end of the shaft.

I can honestly say that I have never knowingly left a machine in an unsafe state. if it’s unsafe and the customer doesn’t want ot pay for the repair, I would either give the part away or cut off the plug!

Two other things to look for.

Check that the top basket is going all the way home. A broken basket wheel could be your only problem.

If not then it could be a bent door hinge. I think this machine is one of those ‘orrible Chinese things. The hinge is made of tin-plate.

Definitely a neutral fault on the supply side of the on off switch. Could be the mains terminal block or a faulty wall socket.

The ‘resistor’ is a thermal fuse and should be short circuit. If it trips the normal complaint is that there is no heat and the clean filter light will be on.

Only fix is a new heater.

What!!! How can you sleep at nights?

I can’t believe that anyone on this site would deliberately leave a machine with a disabled door lock.

Practices like this are totally unacceptable in my book. You should be ashamed of yourself!

Personally, I don’t get involved. We have a had a chat about this subject before.

It’s likely to be a stretched belt. This machine has an out of balance sensor and a stretched belt can fool the electronics into thinking the load is out of balance. The machine will distribute but not spin.

The other common one that throws you on some machines is a bad solder connection on the relays on the module. This will allow the machine to only run in the reverse tumble.

Good luck and happy new year.

    Re: Hoover HSW110M Pressure sw!

I have had several Hoover/Candy machines with a pin hole in the pressure hose. It’s where the hose passes through behind the dispenser.

I find the only safe way to check for leaks on pressure hoses is to disconnect the hose on both ends, block one end and suck on the other. [make sure you suck on the pressure switch end as it will be much cleaner]. Create a vacuum and hold your tongue on the end of the pipe. Your mouth will be able to detect a reduction in the vacuum but is less likely to detect a drop in pressure if you try to find the leak by blowing.

Thanks mate, I hate not being able to diagnose the fault. I think I will send them to Hotpoint this time.

    Thanks again

I would agree with Jim. The capacitors on these are giving problems

To get the pulley off, soak the shaft with WD40 for a few minutes and then use a piece of timber as a lever. I use a bit of 10mm marine ply about 8 inches long by 3 inches wide with a V cut out on one end. Put the lever between the cabinet and the fan.

Slacken the 8mm bolt a few turns and tap on the bolt with a drift whilst levering the fan off. If it still won’t budge clump the wedge with a hammer.

    Works every time.

That’s what I have come up with. However, does sios show anything else between the hub and the back of the machine.

I can’t see what holds the union together under pressure. Most dishwashers have some form of rubber seal at that area.
