Good for you for not getting drawn into arguments about your job.
I think most people are just interested how the system works.

    Happy XMas folks!
and a Merry Christmas to Antonio Merloni and the Indesit company for providing me with more nonsense appliances that are paying off my mortgage.

That is the reason I never tell customers about the Indesit guarantee, £114 call out + £60 d and g policy + £20 descaler. Every job I do on these machines comes in cheaper than troubling the customer with the guarantee.

As for some of you guys doing jobs for £16.50, that just makes me sad to think people have to work hard for that.
You have to have brass balls to ask someone to work for £16.50, I would expect to pay any tradesperson considerably more than that.

    Hi Wards,
I looked into this with my previous employer, “The European union working time directive” does legislate employees to work a maximum of 48hrs a week.

The trouble with being a domestic appliance engineer is that the hours you do are not set so its impossible to enforce this directive.

There are too many mitigating factors to account for when trying to work out your weekly hours eg, distance to travel, your experience, type of jobs given etc, and these change daily.

Sad really, alot of people are desperate at the moment with the recession, jobs that claim “get rich in a week”, ultimately lead to more misery.

Trainee engineers at Comet are trained to use test equipment.

In all companies if a engineer chooses or still does not know how to use the equipment it is ultimatley down to the individual not the company.

Keep in mind Comet are the only company who service all appliances within guarantee. By all appliances I mean all manufactures and the full white good set, so a good Comet engineer is top of trade in my opinion.

    Re: Flybe “airside” installs

    Hi Don,

Before I worked for myself, I had to do a job for at Gatwick air side.

This involved parking, looking for check in desk, calling and waiting for security, filling in a form, getting a signed pass/ badge then going through security, x-ray tools and self, before passport check.
Then being escorted a ridiculous distance to look at a Indesit dishwasher.

Some jobs stick in the mind, remember the job as the job took about 5 min to clear the pump and literally about 2hrs messing around.

Serious aggravation, that was a late day, hope its not like that for you, good luck anyway.

I have not had much success in recovering the shafts on WMA spiders so this has to be worth a go.

(Might even try it on the next ISE 2 SS1242CA2, I have to do seeing as I am the only one replacing these at the mo.)

    You cynical lot.

Ask the people who inhabit the islands of the South Pacific what they think of global warming and you will hear a very different response.

    Hi Eastlmark,

I have taken out loads of the tubs to replace the heaters.
If you use the Search facility, someone here has listed here how to remove the tub screw by screw.

Also are you sure its the tub seal leaking?, I don’t think I have never seen one leak?
