Hi Clivejameson – thanks for the advice, however what do you mean by the fascia – it is an integrated unit and all the controls are on the top inside the door which can only be accessed when the door is open – is it the whole panel at the top where all the buttons etc are? How easy is it to replace this and does that include the catch?
Many thanks
Louise
Yes that’s the fella…black plastic runs the width of the door at the top behind your cabinet door…and no, the catch is a separate part 😉
The good news is these parts aren’t as expensive as you might imagine…email to Shop@ with model and serial should get you the details if you find you need them. (do investigate first)
As far as fitting them goes we cannot give specific advice, but you will need the correct size Torx screwdriver and a little patience…not a difficult job but be careful of some very sharp door edges.
Plug out at all times if having a go yourself. :zap:

I just wonder if the water board have been doing work, they may have ‘posted’ some muck along the pipe in which case check the inlet filter 😉

Here’s some of a grill element just at the point that it lets go…notice how mis-shapen it is, and the fact that it was working despite the (several) splits in it’s casing.

If the diaphragm in the antiflood doesn’t lift during the fill (E2 error) then have a peek at the dispenser solenoid…flexing the terminals during a continuity test usually shows the fault 😉

Could the drum belt coming off have caused this because what i can find out from my other half it happened just after this?More likely the other way around…poor speed control throwing the belt off 😉

The control module for the motor is faulty 😕
Have a look here to identify it, or contact Shop@ with the model, serial and spin speed 😉

This one is made by Smeg so….
A quick search on here for ‘Smeg AND reset’ will tell you how to reset…as long as the pcb hasn’t let go. 😕
The door will probably need a new facia, and possibly the door catch too if it’s worn (the facias break allowing the catch to drop inside)
The parts are surprisingly cheap for Smeg…the facia is around 20 quid IIRC

Greg, isn’t that ‘1 minute left’ actually error code 1 which is no heating?
…in which case the most likely culprit is the heater itself 😉
Andrew, the only satisfactory way to confirm is to meter the heater, and if it’s faulty will need replacing…not cheap (circa £80 ) and it’s a big strip-down job to replace 😕
