ParticipantRe: Zanussi ZENB9950SI Fridge/Freezer – fridge warm
The first thing to do is manually defrost the freezer…power off with the freezer door open for 48hrs.
Switch on and report back if you get problems please…but note that if indeed there is a problem it may take a couple of weeks to show up again so don’t immediately stock up with venison, smoked salmon and caviar š š
It may simply be that the fz door has been left ajar for an extended period causing the fz evaporator to block with ice in which case once defrosted it will be ok again š

Do you mean the lower spray arm? If thats been opened for cleaning and the spigot hasn’t been fully clipped home it will leak, usually under the left-hand corner of the door š

It’s worth pointing out that the point at which you connect the coupling needs to be sufficiently high to prevent syphoning š

I think we need a bigger membership to do all this or massive increase in subs which in turn will do nothing to increase membership.
Catch 22 š

I vote for a bigger membership which can be helped by a publicity officer…all the council are volunteers so a volunteer to do this would be a way forward. š

ParticipantRe: WTA (Whitegoods Trade Association), The Future!
Only just noticed this thread š³
For starters i’d like the Association to address the witholding of technical info by the manufacturers, i’ve posted before about this showing how in the car industry the legislation makes this illegal and i see no reason why this industry shouldn’t be any different.
I’d also like to see a dedicated WEEE scheme for the association, not a money earner but something to take the hassle away from particularly the sole trader who might not sell a great deal of new machines.
I would want the Association to elect an officer dedicated to dealing with governmental issues such as the environment and taxation, and to form channels of communication with other associations that may be relevant to small businesses. Along with that i’d like to see a dedicated communications/press officer to get the ‘splash’ of publicity that will make our voice be heard.
Big asks maybe but why not?

For the inlet hose it could run off a y split with the washing machine and i wondered if i could attach one of the metal flexible pipe type things used for attaching taps in awkard places to the y split and then attach the machine hose to that as that would bring it to about 2.5meters . For the drain i was going to attach it under the sink where the washing machine goes into the adaptor before the u bend by getting another adaptor from wicks so two machines can drain into the one outlet , but the drain from the sink goes behind the washing machine and through the wall to the soil pipe, i was wondering if i could put a standpipe on this pipe as it would bring the length of the drain hose to about under 2.5 meters then.cheers Ant
As far as using a flexible tap connector goes i doubt you’ll find one with the correct end sizes…if you do that’ll be fine, although i suspect the machine fill hose isn’t quite as long as 2.5m. In which case get yourself another standard 1.5m fill hose and use a connector piece to join to the original hose.
If the drain pipe is 1.5in (which it usually is these days) then branching off another standpipe is the ideal solution.
As far as the depth of the machine goes, the rear of the machine is stepped in at the base at the rear to allow for hose runs so as long as the fill and drain plumbing aren’t directly behind the machine the it can go in all the way back to touch the wall behind š

ParticipantRe: Lots of ice in top part of fridge,WHY??
Following on from the previous checks, it could be a number of problems…none of them good i’m afraid š
If the ice is fairly uniform across the width of the back and your food is not being frozen in the fridge then the compressor is weak and would need replacing (big expensive job). If the ice is not spread uniformly but restricted to a large section of the back then it may have a gas leak (big expensive job to find the leak and it may not be repairable anyway). If the ice is ‘balling’ in one particular spot then it may be localised insulation failure (big expensive messy job that may not work either)
All in all, you may want to consider replacing the machine…i personally don’t recognise the brand which probably means a cheap badged product š

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWF1.1 Soap Dispenser
We are unable to give complete instructions in case you or anyone else reading this post injures themselves…suffice to say that this repair isn’t rocket science, the dispenser is in the door so that’s the bit you need to open up. The dispenser fixings will then be obvious š
Don’t forget to unplug before doing anything :zap: and watch out for razor sharp door edges š
