Re: Whirlpool American style Top Loader

Thanks all, the brake actuator (driver level brake) has been changed (part supplied with clutch). The rest of the braking system looked fine.
It’s not the neutral draining box on this machine , just the standard gearbox.
Job’s booked in for next Tuesday again, hopefully it’ll show the fault this time and I’ll get a better idea of what’s actually going wrong.
I’ve tossed the coin and ordered up the brakes and drive tube. That only leaves the gearbox if the fault persists.
    Ta for the input.

Ta Chris, it’s all clean. Pressure switch is working ok. From what the customer tells me, when it stops she lifts the lid, puts it back down and it carries on working ok. My original thinking was a faulty lid switch but this has been ruled out, next thought was a slipping clutch (replaced that along with the motor to gearbox coupling). However, as it’s still doing the same my thinking is now either gearbox or brake assembly.
I’ve never had one with this sort of fault so am working in the dark a bit, especially with not having seen the fault occur.

Don’t recognise it either. However, a flooded base in a machine with an Askoll pump can suffer this problem. (I know cause it happened to my own one couple of weeks ago, not changed to the newer pump yet, still got two askoll pumps spare).
Try tipping the machine backwards a little and see if any water runs out.

I was going to put that but thought I’d get berated about it being unhygenic.

Quickest way to check the feed pipe is to disconnect at the joint on the rear and run some water into it. (Tiny funnel is handy here). If it’s frozen no water will get into the ice maker. Saves having to find somewhere to put all the frozen food while defrosting.

Faulty Icemaker will give the same symptoms. If it’s not working it will never call for water.
As far as I remember the metal rod was in the early machines, ART720 and the like. The later machines, S20 series, have the ice storage in the door and use infra red optics.

Machine will sometimes do a full wash, most times aborts and lights 4 and 5 flash.
Already cleaned out the hose and what have you.
    Door switch is fine too.

    Thanks for the input.

You’ll need both boards. Your machine has the older electronics fitted.

The board pictured earlier in this thread is the newer style board. Yours should look similar to that one but won’t have the pink label. (The colour of the cover could be different).

    Re: Whirlpool again

Your machine was built in 2002 so will require the new rear and front boards.
If the part numbers you have are for the original boards then that will be why they show up as no longer available.

Re: Ikea/Whirlpool dishwasher 60cm wide and integrated

The flowmeter works in conjuction with a pressure switch.
If the flowmeter doesn’t send the correct number of pulses or the pressure switch doesn’t detect the correct amount of water in a given time the machine aborts the program.
9 flashes indicates a faulty inlet valve or pcb. (Remember that the error codes are only a guide to the likely cause of the fault).
Normally a flowmeter or pressure switch problem wouldn’t allow the machine to start washing before aborting.

The start light will be flashing a code. Count the number of flashes between pauses and post the result here. We’ll be able to help a little further then.

    Re: Hoover AS130-001

It’s had a replacement tub. Been there and got the tee shirt. New tub comes with new sump hoses and pressure chamber. Old hose doesn’t fit new tub so I thought this was all part of a modification and so fitted new parts. Wouldn’t take in enough water. Eventually drilled out the blank on new tub, fitted the original pressure chamber and all was well. Had to get a different sump hose for it though.
