Terminal screwdriver to slacken the clip (waggle it in the crimp) and miniature end cutters (nail pullers?) to crimp them up again.

10 flashes = Optical water indicator failure. Dirty OWI lens. OWI defect or control board defect. Check cabling.
Had a quick look at the diagram for your machine and couldn’t see an OWI fitted so would suspect a module problem.
As these are expensive it’s probably best you get an engineer in to check it out further.

The machines are built in Italy and spares are shipped from there. However, I seem to recall a sticker on one board which had made in Hungary (or was it Romania?) on it.

OK, if you’re reading the flashing light properly then it’s misreporting the fault. Common problems were the flowmeter (unplug from the metering tank, clean and tighten connection, plug it back on), pressure switch (black thing on the side of the bowl) and of course the NTC.
Hope this helps.Brian

Sorry, don’t know where the boards are made. Even if you found out who made them they probably wouldn’t have the software on them to run your machine. I think you’re going to have to “bite the bullet” and buy new boards. As they are so expensive I’d recommend getting a service engineer in to check it out. Click on repairs@ on the left column.

Lot of things can stop the ice maker working. Faulty main board, faulty icemaker, faulty infrared optics, water feed pipe frozen, faulty inlet valve etc etc. Not one for the faint hearted.
To be honest this is one fault you’ll need an engineer for.

Hard to say whether changing them would cure the problem.
The “fix” has worked for some but not for all so there’s more than one fault on the boards that cause the same problem.
For the cost of the capacitors it may be worth a try.
If it doesn’t work then you’ve no option but to replace the boards.
My own machine suffered the clicking/flashing lights for a week, then it cured itself and has been fine since. Mind you, I’ve got spare boards for mine, just didn’t get around to changing them.DP

4 flashes is a drain failure. Check your drain hose and ensure that it loops higher than the drain. If it’s on a spigot it may be back filling giving you the greasy deposits.
Other possibilities are a faulty module or dirty water indicator (if fitted).DP

When I was working for the Whirlpool agent this job was extremely common.
It takes no longer to fit than the Askoll. I think it’s easier to fit, to be honest.

Quick update on this one. Went back today armed with the circuit diagrams.
Found one of the pins on the new board missing, soldered in a pin from the old board, plugged it all together and it worked.
Thanks for the help Mark, the diagram made the job so much easier.Brian

Rocker, the flashing light should be flashing a code. The codes are in a sticky in the trade technical enquiries pages.
The NTC is a thermistor. If it’s faulty you should get a single flash, i.e. flash, pause, flash, pause etc (looks to be continuous).
The NTC plugs into the bottom of the bowl, it’s a twist fit and has two blue wires going to it.Brian

Ta for that Steve. Going there tomorrow to do a complete strip down of the machine. Haven’t come across this fault before so really want to find the cause.

Paolo, If you’re replacing the board you will require both boards due to the age of your machine.
If you’re trying the fix that’s been posted then you only need to do the rear board.DP

Thanks Mike, I’ve got the diagrams from my days of working for the W/pool agent.
I did examine it Kevin and it all looks good. The fact it works after lifting the lid and closing it again is where I’m having the trouble diagnosing plus the piggin thing not going wrong when I’m there.
I’ve ordered the brakes and drive tube so hopefully it’ll cure the problem. Thanks for the offer and input.
