Re: A Sign of the Times?

Thing is though, when that machine was originaly made, did we think of it as a good, high quality product? No, I dont think so, Back then Hotpoints and Hoover logics were the everyday bread and butter of our businesses and, aside from the revenue they brought in, we never had a good word for them. Compared to what we have today though…….
We had a similar request as yours Chris for the old AEG drop down door washers a few years back, despite haveing dumped plenty over the years, I couldnt find one. She bought an ASKO instead as the door arrangment was pretty similar and, AFAIK its still going strong.

M11 between junction 8 and 9. Two lane motoway, lots of steep hills + Lorries overtaking each other at around 2mph speed differentials. Nightmare.

    You feeling alright Alex?

I had this advice given to me when touring Alaska some years back. The Bear bells for example, aside from making you sound like a right dipstick, also have the effect of scaring off all the wildlife no doubt you have come all that way to see in the first place. Real hikers will never wear them, yes, the worse possible thing that can happen is to surprise a bear as, in general they keep away from us humans.
The other problem is the bear that has become accustomed to humans and know they have food, (food precautions are another matter altogether), these bears now listen out for the sound of the bells and hey presto its like having sat nav for food.

Oh, I just read the last line of your post Alex! 😆

Chris may I suggest the term “vanishing dishwasher” (VD for short) should be applied here. 😆

Recent expereince with a Bosch dishwasher would lead me to say yes, the board is shot. Look closely for pin holes blown in the surface mounted triac that controls the pump.

Re: Throw Away The Franking Machine!

I missed this post (joke). Yeah we have used this for abot 6 weeks or so as no one ever wanted to go and buy me stamps and Franking machines were out of the question given the quantity of mail.
Basicly you pay by debit card to charge up your account, simply download the software and away you go.
Its great for business as you can decide on 1st or 2nd post for each individual envelope, cut and past the address and print off the envelope with the postage. You do have to be online to use it so broadband is essential. It works on lables too but not all label printers (we use a Seiko one and have never managed to get it to work). You can also use it for parcels including special delivery but you still need to queue up in the post office to get your reciept of postage. You can download the software as many times as you want on to any PC so you can use it from home or wherever using just the one account.
The down sides as far as we have found are:
You cannot print a postage without an address as address information is also stored within the pixels of the ‘stamp’, so you cannot print a sheet of lables and use them as normal stamps. They are also dated a latest posting date which is usualy the next day. They are not so great for personal items like birthday cards etc as they look horribly official. oh and it costs about £4 odd a month. Just make sure you dont run out of ink too as it will still debit your acount even if the thing hasnt actually printed. You can apparrently return unused and wrongly printed items (like on the wrong side of the envelope, hands up that was me, all ten of them!) for credit but I havn’t put that to the test as yet.

No there shouldnt be steam puffing out. (assuming you are leaving the water turned on while drying, right?) Guess you are under warranty and need to call Indesit to arrange a service visit.

The front panel on that machine is removable and secured by 3 screws, one at the top behind the soap dispenser, the othe two under the plastic kick plate at the bottom. Check none of these have worked loose.

This is a Brandt made dishwasher that uses a mechanical timer in the base of the dishwasher, what can happen is that it needs manualy re setting which is a job for an engineer.
