    Chris the Penguin.

err… dont know, i think the lock is the same so it may be right. Its a bit like a whirlpool type only the coils are wider. Its held under a bracket by 2 rivets. If you want to drill them out and send it to me you can. Not the whole door please!.
I will pm you my address.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

Its just a Creda, on the partfinder disc, try 171150 but there are some date code changes so get the serial number. Merloni or any of the wholesalers will have that.

Yeah, that is a Hotpoint part number you can use with either Merloini/GDA or wholesalers such as wash vac/parts center or electrue/connect (why do all of these have so many various names?) If you are stuck I am sure Dave Conway on this site will sort you out or I will if not.

I must admit though to not yet having changed to an FHP motor so do not know for sure if this is what you need but it is the Hotpoint plug tool we have used for 10 years or so.

    Re: Admiral tumble drier AYE2200

    Thanks for the “help” Penguin!

Maytags official answer to this enquiry was ” The tumble drier was only designed to be used a maximum of 3 times a week and if its used anymore than that then thats the reason the fans are splitting”

We think we may have a missing spring collar around the fan mounting hole that may have been discarded with the original broken fan when the Maytag engineer replaced it the first time rather than fitting it to the new one therefore by the time we visited it there was no sign of anything missing until Maytag at least were kind enough to fax me an exploded.

Have just visited the http://www.maytag.com site as suggested at the meeting and all the exploded diagrams are there, great!

    Thanks

We find this is more of a problem with using liquid washing detergent than powder. If you are using liquid I suggest you change to powder or the hard block tablets once you have carried out the cleaning process as the others have said abaove.

Yes, that weight would sound about right. and is measured exactly to the gram hence the need for more accurate scales than that we use for older refrigerents.
Although your meter will check if the cap is ok, sometimes they can break down under high voltage such as it would be subjected to in normal use and a megger will probably show this rather than the 6 odd volts whatever form a ohmeter. Try the cap as its the cheapest option but the click may indicate a siezed compressor.

    Chris,
I think that motor is just for the half load feature to feed the top arm only rather than a AEG style alternating supply type which I think is a AEG/LUX patent. so presuming of course it isnt actually on a half load programme accidently, the valve may well be stuck. Tricky one to check though as you say as if you strip it down you are left with a kitchen floor of parts and impossible to test.
    file under RYTM…..

    Re: Faulty fridge freezer

    James,
Take out the salad crispers in the bottom of the fridge and there is bound to be label stuck to the inside of the fridge with the model details on and the R600 charge will be there too.
If the compressor isnt running its not going to be a system fault anyway so dont worry about it. To check the capacitor you need to disconnecct the leads from the cap so they are not connected to anything else, connect your megger to each lead and press the button, you should get a low ohms reading at first that should fall back to a high ohms reading as the cap charges. On releasing the button your megger should read a voltage as the cap discharges (dont touch the leads till it has discharged!). If this happens and assuming it does not read to earth, then the cap is ok. The most likely fault reading will be either open circuit or short circuit but cap failures are rare.
Its not often you get a totally dead compressor, they usually make some attempt at a noise at first. You will have some sort of relay too but I think we need more info to diagnose this.
2 things to look out for, if it is a frost free fridge freezer, the comp is often not switched on straight away althought the fan is running, it may come on some 20 mins later in some cases and although anyone here can supply a 4 uf cap, it really should be an encapsulated type to keep within the hydrocarbons design spec.

I must admit I used to love reading the RS catalogue! when it was a single volume that is but then it just grew and the last one I was 3 weighty volumes and then…….the dreaded CD arrived and i must admit I dont think I have ordered anything from them since.

Just a quick check that the wire is on the dispenser coil. We have had a good few with weird faults that have been down to this wire getting caught in the insulation and somehow getting pulled off.

Yeah, its free I was told last month but also told to “KEEP IT TO MYSELF” as they couldnt cope right now with an influx of new customers until they get sorted out at their new distribution centre.

We have had a number of these with earthed heaters lately. one even re-failed within a few months of changing.
    268033 is the part number @£57.10 +vat.

Sorry chris. (OK I might get a flipperring to death next week for saying this) I dont really recommend that is the best way of dealing with it though, much safer to take the cavity off from the top, its quick and easy to do so and less chance of water getting into expensive places.
