    Re: Frost Free

All the above is good information, but bear in mind that once on the job in the customers house, you will be face with a huge block of ice preventing you from carrying out any of the tests until it is defrosted. Allready you are in for a 2 visit call before starting. Whats worse, once defrosted the customer will probably try it a again and the damn thing will of course work correctly as the ice will have all gone.
You also need the manuals or some tech help as the electronic ones usually have test progs etc and other quirks like the comp not switching on for 20 mins or so after plugging in unless the fridge door is open (Hotpoint) and going into defrost cycles just when you want to check the fan or compressor.
They are not easy, and sometimes you are not sure of a fix for a month or so later as its not always apparrent if the defrost cyvle is working or not. oh and those fins on the evaporator are sharp!

On the NASCAR forum, you get stars, well squares actually, like here but after you get five, they start turning gold and when you get them all gold they vanish and you reach a kind of senior status where you dont have any stars. I guess its like when a doctor becomes a MR. thats at like 10,000 posts or sumfink. I think we should have tallied up the old YAHOO posts, if they were’nt deleted so quickly and the anon posts to get a true picture of just who the senior members are here.
Sorry I have messed up your shop@ thread so much.

    AND I didn’t get a star for 200 either!

Aghh! we all know that, No one is disagreeing with that. We are talking mark up of a known cost price here!
As for the vat, I am sure we all have calculators with tax – and + buttons on.

hey, that was my 200th post, dont I get another star or sumfink!

I still say 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} mark up is just that 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} on top of the figure you paid for it to do it the other way is gonna be more than 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. anyhow, I ll ask my 9year old son when he goes to KUMON next week.

    Re: Shop@

Sorry to confuse the issue, but surely this way is to calculate a 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} or whatever mark up from the starting point of the retail or label price. a 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} mark up is 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the trade price or whatever your paid for it, ie. trade price X20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}+=. isnt it? Of course, if you subtract 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} from the final price it will come in less than the trade price as you are calculating 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the higher figure rather than the starting figure.
In the same way that working out the amount of vat on a vat inclusive price is not just a matter of x17.5{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} -.

AEG, when they were AEG did do things a bit complicated I know, like putting 2 timers in a washing machine when one surely would have done but this is something else.

To give “which” there due, they did recently contact all dasa members for their views on washer driers. Did you reply? I assume though that is not related to this survey.

    Washing machines

Best were Tricity Bendix, Miele, Bosch and AEG; Average were Candy, Zanussi/Zanussi- Electrolux, Siemens, Whirlpool and Creda; Worst were Indesit, Servis, Hotpoint, Hoover and Ariston.

Tricity Bendix best while Electrolux/Zanussi only average? someone should tell them something!

    Best were Miele and Servis;

Servis or Miele? oh! I cant make up my mind which is best here.

    Dishwashers

Best were Neff and Bosch; Average were Candy, Miele, AEG, Hotpoint, Zanussi/Zanussi-Electrolux, Hoover, Siemens, Tricity, Bendix, Whirlpool, Smeg, Ariston. Worst was Indesit.

Siemens only average yet Neff and Bosch the best. at least they got the worst one right on this one.

    Re: Corgi Fiasco Continues

The way this has been explained to me is as follows:
A non time served engineer new to gas work needs to show a “portfolio of experience” which should even contain photos of your work done under the supervision of a corgi registered engineer. (exactly what you photo, I dont know, a bit of pipe, my hands on a valve? surely they could be easily “posed” and dont mean a thing. What it does mean is that you need another corgi engineer to go around with, fine if you already employ one not so easy if you dont. The only way I can see to do it is to befriend a local corgi reg’d company and offer your services, free of course, to go around as a “mate” getting some hands on boiler repairs or whatever while having your photo taken doing it. I dont think there is a set length of experience needed, just adequate proof that you have the nessesary experience. This is of course all in addition to the training/ assesments nessesary.

Get one from EMW, and if it blows up again you can send it back just for a fiver or so handling charge. They are in the web links section.

I hav’nt heard the term MOSFET since 1979!, Harlow technical college! I think its a Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor and I must admit that it means more to me than Ken and his Bots. But in this case I guess the whole board should be changed.
I think there are JUGFETS as well but thats another story.

Re: Which Spares Supplier(Wholesaler) is best ?

I think many of the prices on the dvd are out of date even before the disc is sent out. You need to do the regualr updates or, even better do the live update on the part as you look it up. a bit of a pain if you are not always connected I know. Often you will miss out on the offer prices and quantity discounts.
I too think that the wash vac parts whatever is much better but as that Joe strummer guy demonstates, they are not now always the cheapest. Also, just because the electrue order reply says the part is in stock, dont believe it until you open the box…the words “ammended invoice” usually mean that that critical part needed for your best customer that you promised today isnt actually in there.
