easy, assume you can get the thing out of the housing (check length of main lead). there is a removable round panel under the motor, just snip the thin metal bits off with a pair of old cutters and remove the panel. 2 screws, 2 wires and bobs you old auntis son. Just re fit the panel with a couple of small self tappers. If you have assistance, you may be able to do this just by pulling the microwave forward just enough to access it.unplug it though as that motor is live even when off!

cannot believe, 2 years later I just fallen for this big time,3 hours of a Friday before bank holiday x 2 wasted sorting it out. Appears to be only Embarco 1/6 compressors as the 1/5th on my van reverts to the normal rule.

    Thanks again

we know, thats pretty usual practice. The problem is they are sometimes not so easy to unscrew and manufacturers rarely make a screwdriver slot in the end of the rotor in order to lock the motor while unscrewing. What you describe as a “fan” is really very delicate alloy fins on the rotor, dont bend or break them! I have struggled with Miele impellors in the past as they are sometimes rusted on. The second part of the seal is formed by the carbon face on the impellor itself so make sure you fit that as well.
Its a nice job on a Miele and one you charge well for.

as with most built in microwaves, the length is fine but by the time the installer has cut the plug and a bit of lead off, fed it through a hole into the cupboard above, refitted a new plug and then stretched it into a socket, there aint much left and we find outselves stuck in mid air holding the thing with nowhere to go when we try to get one out.

well, it can only be the front board then? Have you checked the wires in the top door hinge though? wondering if they have broken and shorted out maybe?

Re: SMEG FA550X (Whirlpool) American Fridge Water Problem

but a shorted coil could have blown the rear board.
    can you clarify:

    a) if you draw water through the fountain, the ice maker fills as well?

    b) when the icemaker is filling, water also comes out of the fountain (ie this will obviously happen even if no one is operating anything or even around at the time, they just find a pool of water on the floor that has run down from the fountain/dispenser?

    c) both of the above.

no diode on this one, its all controlled by the rear module. Check the resistances of the valve coils first, occasionaly they short out across the terminals from leakages.

probably find the 5th light is not flashing, just on = alt valve. Although I think they may both flash if the program is re set mid cycle,(by holding the start button down) in which case switch off and on again and select a new program and start it, see what happens.
