Probably the most commonly fitted part on these dishwashers.
They supply a proper motor pump for spares but still fit the askoll type in production (must be 20p cheaper)
They also positioned the connector at the bottom of the pump so that when water goes into the base it blows the module and stops the machine thereby doing away with the need to fit a float switch in the base. :stir:

Many repairers are going skint already so the question of paying out more will not get much support.
Most if not all customers don’t want to pay what we charge already.
So where will the funding come from?
Another CORGI about to be spawned?
Anyway if I hadn’t been doing it right for the last ** years I wouldn’t still be in business would I ?
Never mind I get my bus pass in 10 years.

If the door lock is still locking you may be able to take the back off and clean up the contacts on the spin switch.

Sounds like something I saw a few years ago there was a stick on label covering the Whirlpool logo which could be easily removed.
The brand name was something like Sven which wouldn’t sell too well after the world cup!
Don’t know where they came from but whirlpool wouldn’t cover the warranty and had no spares or tech info.

Re: American type Whirlpool tumble dryer cutting out.

    Hi John
I’ve been out of the loop with Whirlpool on a direct basis for a while now (thankfully) but the question of over use was an issue in recent times and may have been dropped now for commercial reasons.
I did have something in print but it went through the shredder a long time ago along with everything else. 😀 😀 😀

    Regards

It depends on what you call excessive use.
These are heavy duty domestic not designed for constant use.
I know that Whirlpool dont like them in places like nursing homes and they have a formula for the number of beds to dryers in these places and if there aren’t enough machines the warranty is not honoured.
I’ve seen these machines in hairdressers too and they run them non stop
so the motor will run hot and cut out.
Venting is also important the installation should be as straight and as short as possible.
But nobody reads installation instructions do they? 😉

Re: Another Whirlpool running warm 🙁

    Hi Garethh
The motorised air diffuser is operated by the fridge thermostat when the temperature in the fridge is too warm it opens the baffles in the unit.
A switch contact inside the air diffuser will turn on the circulation fan if it is not already running.
It is possible to have the fridge compartment calling for cold air without the compressor running.
The compressor is activated by the freezer thermostat when a sufficient rise in temperature is detected.
The reason for the fridge compartment freezing at the bottom whilst staying warm at the top is that the air duct to the meat chiller is not regulated and relies on the rest of the appliance working properly to give correct temperatures.
These US made fridges use good old fashion technology and you get no fancy error codes to help you out so you have to work it out logically.
I would suspect the air diffuser is malfunctioning intermittantly but you will have to use your own judgement 😉

Re: Another Whirlpool running warm 🙁

    Hi Again Gareth
Another possibility came to me after my last posting.
This appliance has an electro mechanical defrost timer which will run a defrost cycle about twice a day.
There is a plastic bung on the underside of the control panel inside the fridge door.
Prise out the bung and you can turn the timer by hand with a flat blade screwdriver gently until you feel a click.
The freezer should do a defrost but the timer will advance and restart the compressor after a few minutes wether it has defrosted or not.
The defrost thermostat on this unit only serves to turn off the defrost heater when the ice has gone,it does not control the timer.
If you open the freezer door you should be able to hear water dripping and an occasional hiss as water drips onto the hot element.
Another possibility is the air diffuser at the top left of the fridge compartment.
This is motor driven and is controlled by the right hand thermostat.
So therefore it could be one of the following.
    1) Defrost timer not running
    2) Defrost thermostat
    3) Defrost element
    4) Air diffuser
    5) Fridge thermostat

I think that just about covers everything 😉

Re: Another Whirlpool running warm 🙁

    HI Gareth
If the auto defrost isn’t working then the evaporator will get completely blocked with ice and not enough air will pass through it to cool the fridge compartment.
Take a look at the back of the freezer compartment behind the baskets.
If you can see frost on it then the defrost thermostat has probably failed.
Double check by completely defrosting the appliance then switch on.
If it runs OK for a few days then starts acting up again then you should check the defrost stat

Re: Whirlpool gen 2000 G2PDWI/1. reverts back back to rinse

    Hi Tell
If you count the number of times that the start light flashes between pauses this will give you the erreo code.
Then go to the top of this forum to “known error codes” and all will be revealed.
