Re: Britannia cooker hood lights stopped working

it is not easy to diagnose accurately but

the hum would be a transformer as I am assuming the lamps are a 12 volt halogen

    therefore it could be

    1 the transformer
    2 the switch
    3 the lamps

Re: bosch 1200 classixx express not heating water

NTC is the electronic thermostat normally its in a hole in the heater

other fault it can be is a bad solder joint on the main circuit board. all heaters are switched by relays on the board and they dont always solder correctly and fail

Re: John Lewis JLWM1203 drain pump error

no what martin means is play in the pump impellor (the white cross)

if you can hear thr pump trying to start then that is prob all it will be. if pump starts properly ( not just rattles) then you may have a blockage. i have had buttons half way down the outlet hose

I agree when you rent the property the landlord is responsible for the appliances unless it is written into your contract that you are

also your problem has nothing to do with heating water. the tumble dryer section heats air that blows into the drum and heats the clothes to evaporate the water off them.

    Re: Smeg DWI710.E1 intermittant heating

have you asked him what happens when it switches. if it switches and prog end shortly after that (ie pumps out and stops) I would assume error code

as for heater relays don’t rule out failure but also think about power supply problems (ie if voltage is low it may not be able to pull relay in sometimes )

    hope it helps

well I don’t think much of your local repair man !!

    from memory

    plug machine in
turn prog dial to 6 oclock position
press and hold spin speed button
turn prog knob 1 click clockwise
    release spin button
turn prog knob off wait 10 secs and turn back on

you may have to do it 3 or 4 times

if drum goes with a push but wont start otherwise most likely fault is motor capacitor

    Re: hoover washing machine

from the owners manual from hoover site

    Delay Start
This option allows you to delay the start of your wash cycle by up to 24 hours. By
pressing the Delay Start button, the time delay will be shown on the display (h00). This
will increase in one-hour intervals each time the Delay Start button is pressed.
Continue to press the button until the required time is reached, then press the Start
Pause button to activate the machine. The machine will start its cycle once the required
    number of hours has passed.
To cancel the Delay Start option, press and hold the button for 5 seconds until the
display shows the settings for the selected programme. To start this programme, press
the Start Pause button. To cancel the process, turn the Programme Selector to the OFF
position and then select another programme.

    try this

if it were me change the motor. you may be able to split it but getting it aligned again and getting a reliable joint could be a problem.
if you want to try I would use Araldite
