    Re: Electric Grill Thermostat/Energy Regulator

you need to understand how these parts work to figure out whats wrong

1 you turn the knob on say 90 degrees
2 the ring comes on but also a small heater inside the switch that warms up a bi-metal strip
3 this strip bends until it meets the cam that was turned by the knob
4 when the strip presses against the cam it turns off the main contact
5 the ring switches off and so does the heater
6 as the heater cools the pressure against the cam relaxes and the main switch closes again turning on the ring and the heater
    7 the process continues

if you turn the knob half way the ring is on 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time approx turn it higher and its more turn it lower and its less

    hope this helps

the replacement part differs in looks but works ok the main difference is the wiring codes “live” on old part “L1” on new etc
can get cross ref list for fitting purposes

Re: BELLING 335si no main oven or both left hand plates

as with all problems like this you can proove it with a meter

obviously both ring and the oven are fed by one wire or if its 2 or 3 wires thay must be connected to the live connection block at the same place
probably one of the metal jumpers on the term block find it, short it and it should work then you can order part if reqd

Re: WHICH WASHING MACHINE TO BUY

you dont get a lot for £300 but if you add £25 to it you can get a bosch WAE24166GB from appliances online 1200 spin 2 year guarentee good machine ( you can get 1400 spin for £342 )

if you want cheap then buy an Amica for around £250 you get a two year warrenty but the bosch should outlast it you will have to find a local retailer who stocks it but the service is carried out by members of this site ( and someone near you may be able to supply ) so spares and service are not a problem

    Hope this helps

Re: hotpoint aquarius wd420 washer/dryer not working

chances are the electronic board that controls the machine is faulty
if the door lock goes bang internally it blows the board and not the fuse and gives same results that you now have. ie you select wash, press go, and pcb tries to lock door but with this part of the pcb faulty the machine will wait till it lock and of course it never will
suprised you get no fault code but i would still suspect the board

depends which way you tried to turn shaft

one way you are driving through the spin clutch and will feel very hard
the other way should get very easy to turn as you are in wash mode and the girator action

you could have a box problem or a motor bearing problem ?

these machine are very easy to strip you can get the gearbox out in under 15 mins
you will find out on the next one

gyrator prob yes all later ones had holes and yes i presume it was to stop air being trapped and to allow any hot water from the heater to get out

cant tell from sensor what it does ( not seen one of these)
if its temp will be a standard ntc if its water inlet ot must have a revolving fan to count water in

check to see if they are still fitting the 6.3A fuse in the control panel if so go for that first

if its dead should not be gearbox or motor
lid switch looks like the common one that is glued together and the glue fails. I usually put it back together add cable tie and job sorted

    Re: Baumatic BHD5 Dishwasher

closest model i can find is BDW5

from memory has your model got all the prog buttons on a thin stip of plastic if so these go faulty over time bit like tv remotes as you start using the same programme.
open dishwasher disconnect ribbon cable to buttons, turn on/ off then reconnect ribbon and try again ( i do it live and you can hear the beep as you connect lead which you would not get if there was no fault ) if you get 1 wash out of it then one of the buttons is short circuit. you could try massaging the button that looks most worn to see if it will disconnect and give you a wash

    hope it helps

did try a few of my suppliers all i got was obsolete

these are a common problem to stick open i think the problem may occur if the unit is not rinsed out with clean water when finished

you could try lubricating it with a silicon based lubricant and see what happens
just done same job on my dads but i had one lying around last one i had i am afraid
