Participantthe wma range werent overly bad
although the tub and drum assembly is still in use in some of the current machines, the motor and electronics are far different
when they made them, we all thought they were poor, with high bearing failure rates, however, theyre reliable compared to the new generation
jim (iadom) is always stating how he has a wma (62?) at home, and he quite likes it
its like anything else.. the engineers (not adam of course, he draws pictures!)have seen the way machines should be made , going back to the old wrap round cabinets on the hotpoints, twin tubs, top loaders etc
its difficult for us to watch these machines be as bad as they are, weve seen how they could be.. its frustrating seeing the ‘quality’ of modern day machines
quick note – yes the out of balance scenario is to stop vibration and damage to the machine, yet old machines didnt have it
why? because they could handle it, things were made from quality materials, designed to last years, the new machines are all plastic and shake to pieces if allowed towrite that down adam, it might be useful to you in that other forum you post in
get yerself a nice, basic wma32 dan, not bad, when all said and done!
and thanks for your inputrob

Participantthe wma was a hotpoint machine, the wf/wt is an indesit machine
however both machines have out of balance protection circuits – the wma machines less sensetive
the wma was the last of the original hotpoint machines, and although they werent the best, they outshine that new generation 10 fold
and, adam, its not for safety… you should really read up on it – again, your making unfounded comments

Participantcant be that bad, can it?

ParticipantDO NOT turn the fridge upside down, it will never work again
again, i think a thermostat would probably cure your problem

Participantcarbon brushes in the motor are the usual culprit
motor off to check them

Participantand what exactly did you hear trev? pm me

Participanterm, the valve?
the green coil on the three way valve is faulty

the fan and heater wont run for a good few minutes when you switch it on
hiope this helps

Participantis it a bitron lock ( the relay in the lock itself)?
the relay penguin showed you is off the earlier one
you got a serial number?
helo_75
Participantunusual
ar you sure the bit that locates in the lock on the door isnt broken?
the buzzing is the lock not activated

Participanterm, dont be surprised then if the front fans goin la la again.. most unreliable part of the machine

Participantgive me yer email ow643@aol.com, and ill send u a manual!!!
helo_75
Participantwell, if your good enough, then yes, i know theyre available
make sure the plugs out… theres more than one relay on the board, u just have to follow the heater connections back to the faulty one, remove it and take it to maplins.. theyre usually pretty good for things like that
the only reason you’d need an eprom is because the original one is different to the service pcb, and isnt interchangeable, so ull need a new one, unless of course uve had the board replaced previously…..
hope this helps

Participantwell, you could just check the pump first, tyo make sure theres no blockages
next thing, is your machine plumbed in under the sink, attatched to the drain?
further to that, try a good old service wash
that being a 90 degree wash with no clothes in, possibly using calogon or such like, or some bleach
if you use bleach, be sure to do a couple of washes later to get rid of it fullyit sounds like the usual scenario, theres a useful guide on here, i cant just find it, im sure one of the guys (probably penguin) who will paste you the link
hope this helps?
