Participantnope, pcb required… as well as eeprom
not cheap by any stretch of the imagination
and there are lots of criteria to be found before u order, such as serial number/drum type etc
you could start by giving us the serial number, but it might be best taking advantage of the hotpoint 5 year parts guarantee, would probably work out cheaper tbh
hope that helps

ParticipantRe: samsung fridge freezer RS20
simonsgl1 wrote:Ok I can tell you the exact problem with your fridge!
1. There IS DEFINATELY a design fault with the auto defrost matrix which causes the ventilation system to completely ice up and cause the fridge to overheat and the freezer over-ices trying to compensate.
2. As a result of this, the system has now been modified with an infra-red element behind the defrost cover which replaces the troublesome defrost matrix (lower left in the freezeer compartment).
3. Symptoms are: Ice on bottom of freezer comp. Overfreezing of freezer. Warm fridge. Ice in the vent behind grille in lower left of the FRIDGE compartment.
4. A 48hr defrost (no less than 48 hours) will buy you another three weeks of use before symptoms return. It is possible that your problem is just the defrost sensor… but I doubt it!

I HAD TO DO THE FOLLOWING TO GET PROBLEM FIXED!
I had the same problem with mine at 3 years old… a year outside its warranty. This was in September 2007, I was advised by a tech in Scotland that there is a design fault with the unit and there is a modification available. Samsung denied this and were not interested. I contacted Trading Standards and they advised me that the failure was not acceptable in such a short period and to contact Comet (the sellers) and demand a repair under UK trading standards law (see website). Comet sent SEVEN engineers out over the following four months, firstly they couldnt find the problem, then they eventually found out there WAS a design fault with these fridges and there WAS a modified part available. They ordered the part and found it wouldnt fit because the new modified fridges also had the inside modified to take the modified part! Then they got all the parts and Samsung didnt supply the fittings and were very vague on which fittings were needed. Eventually Comet twigged that due to total lack of technical support from Samsung, they would have to write off the unit with and give me a new one.
It is arriving on Thurs 14th Feb.I hope this solves your problem!

Participantits inline with the heater connection, its clamped to the heater box (usually has a yellow sleeve over it)
and work with the plug out, and do not , under any circumstance , by-pass it, replace it, theyre about five quid
hope this helps

Participanttake it back!!!
do yourself a favour
the paddles are all wrong, and tumble the clothes towards the back of the dryer, and the clothes, simply dont dry as it switches off prematurely
theyre ok on timed dry
the only cure weve found is to tilt it forward slightly so the clothes move forward on a tumble
no other cure im afraid
hope that helps

Participantdoes it cost more if you live in london then?
helo_75
Participantjust put a pcb and eprom on it.. go on, u know you want to………..
helo_75
Participantits probably an e10 fault
heater cut out
as the heater only comes on on the 1st reverse tumble on that model
hope that helps
helo_75
Participantor maybe the starts just faulty
blocked condensers cause poor drying performance, they rarely cause stat failure
