    Re: bosch door handle

The point of the emergency release tab is to release the locking pin in the interlock that stops the lock releasing, this may be required in the case of power failure or interlock failure (Basically any thing that stops the machine from releasing the interlock).
It is important to remember that the pull tab does not move the slide plate and therefore does not push the door pin back to allow the door to open in the event of a broken handle (you still have to pull the handle when using it to open the door).

My personal preference for opening doors with broken handles is to remove the lid and with the power unplugged slide my hand down behind the interlock and with the aid of a bent screwdriver (Dyson switch removal tool) push the hook back from behind.

    Re: Smeg Oven 5HO Error?

Sounds like it is in “Show room” mode, to deactivate you need to:
Turn the oven controls to Off
Press and hold the left hand control for 3 seconds, the clock hours section should be flashing.
Press the left hand control knob again, the minutes should now be flashing.
Press the knob again, Display will now show “P1” on the left hand side and “OF” or “ON” on the right, this is the child lock, twist the knob left or right to change – set to “OF” to disable child lock
Press the knob again, Display will now show “P2” on the left hand side and “OF” or “ON” on the right, this is the Show Room function, twist the knob left or right to change – set to “OF” to clear your “error”
Press the knob again, Display will now show “P3” on the left hand side and “OF” or “ON” on the right, this is the Power limit function, twist the knob left or right to change – If on it will limit the power draw of the appliance to 2300W

Hope that helps – they are not very intuitive to the end user on these functions.

Thank you all, machine is being duly scrapped and it sounds like I have dodged an awkward job with this one.

I use the capacitance feature for test motor start/run capacitors and those capacitors that are used for power supply purposes on the pcbs.
It may have cost me about £500 seven years ago but has survived several drops and getting wet (not submerged) several times and still passes calibration with ease.

I use a Fluke 1587, it has proved to be a reliable meter even after having got rained on a couple of times (just don’t let it get damp between the 2 pins that connect to the remote button otherwise it won’t turn on till it has dried out).

I also use the payleven reader, it only gets used about 6 times a year at the moment and I add a processing fee to the customers bill, there system will also allow you to take over the phone payments through their website (if you ask for it) which has also been useful occasionally when dealing with landlords.
They pay the money to me within a week, the only bugbear that I have is that I have to re-pair the reader to the phone each time (suspect that it is probably the phones fault – if you look closley you will see that izettle and paypal both use the same readers).

Yes it has – There is also a mark as if it has run on against the front felt seal as it should at some time in the past but it doesn’t now and I can see no other reason why not.

From memory I would have said that it was 6000zz (possibly 6001zz), I certainly keep both in stock and have done several dryer motors but it has been about 6 months since I last needed to do one.

Re: LG F1480YD5 – Wash Element support

I stripped the sump and pump down but couldn’t find anything, from looking at the tub through the element hole I suspect that it should be a metal loop that goes round the element which would then be hooked under plastic tabs at each end but couldn’t find any traces of anything.

Drum spider and bearings are fine, the drum is running in the correct position.
If I press down gently on the terminals at the back of the element then you can feel and hear the front lift up and touch the drum – it’s such a long element that I cant believe that it would be unsupported.

Thank you – I will give it a go and see if we can get the customers wine and beer to be only chilled and not frozen for them.

P.S. Maybe one day I will get the hang of working out which stats are equivalent to each other.

The owner is a lady with learning difficulties, I was mainly talking with her support worker, there was no sign of damage to the rubber seal and what remained of the drum looked okay positionally, it looks to me like the drum seam had split during spin.

Here are some pictures of an Indesit IWD7168S(UK) that I had to visit today for insurance purposes.

    Re: Cooker spur point.

The 2 meter distance is not mandatory but it is strongly advised in “The On Site Guide – Appendix H” and I am lead to believe that it is also mentioned in “Electrician’s Guide to the Building Regulations” although I don’t have a copy of the later so can’t check.

I perhaps should have said that “there should be a means of isolation within 2 meters of the cooker”.
