ParticipantRe: Budget ?
yep could not agree more, like your write up too, where have all the alternative methods of providing heat/propulsion gone, do we really belive that the motor engine now over 100 years old has not been improved/replaced, it would be like saying the twin tub is still the only way to wash clothes!, if you or i or any other came up with a new way to power a car tomorrow without petrol/diesel/gas how much would the oil companies/gov pay to buy it only for it to dissapear?, do we all really think that the gov wants us all to ditch our cars?, how would the economy cope if petrol/diesel was to stop being bought tomorrow?

Hi, k,
Did you ever see the Great Global Warming Swindle when it was on TV?
Basically global warming was dreamt up in the 80’s by the Thatcher Gov,
It went along the lines of, the miners were on strike & she wanted to show coal as a bad thing, so it was made to look like coal was causing global warming, however, in the 70’s the world was seeing signs of global cooling, (after 20-30 years of far more polluting than we have today),
The global warming/harming from coal was so powerfull that people started to believe it in mass numbers, so, there also lay a bonus, put up taxes to help the enviroment,
What the programme showed was that there is a real link between CO2 and Global warming, but that it is in fact the other way round, in the last 200 years when the world has naturally warmed up, then Co2 levels rise AFTER, therefore Co2 is a byproduct of natural global warming & not the cause,Maybe i should have put this in the rumours forum??, anyway, hope it makes some sense!

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint FF92TC Fridge to warm
Hi, just to clarify a few points, module failures on the FF range is very very rare, i bet ive only fitted 2-3 in 10 years, if the module does fail the whole machine would be dead
Also although as kwatt points out -22 is not ideal to many, all of the FF range with temp displays run at -22 for the freezer in normal running mode
By far the most likely cause will the thermistors in the freezer, they are behind the panel, but before you go looking please make sure the plug is out, and also watch out for the main grille its edges are like razor blades!, there are 2 thermistors in there, worth changing both, and both i believe available from the shop@ here, when you get them will know what you are looking for inside!http://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/product_ … cts_id=376

£25 for the pair, much better than wasting £135!!!

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WD420P Three POPs and Smoke!
hi, as its a WD machine you may find some water has come out through the breather hole on the dryer assy & dripped down onto the module, usually caused by a pump blockage, but also probably blown the module, did you see any damage when changing the old module?

ParticipantRe: hotpoint WMA44N
had one recently, if it is the same it has a variable spin dial?, knob was cracked at back so even though it looked like it was pointing to spin it was actually set to no spin!, would ckeck those dials/wiring first before going for module

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint FFA70 compressor
it is also a little unfair to praise the first guy you called (who did not stock the part) and then criticise the hotpoint engineer because he doesnt carry the part either, i think a lot of people dont realise that the employed engineers only have the stock that is on their van, there is nowhere to go and pick one up, also the stock that is carried is not even decided by the engineer but by people sitting in offices
anyway, hopefully you will be back up and running in a few dayshotpnt

ParticipantRe: £15.90 per month ??
yeah kind of mistaken, if you call for an appliance out of garantee you have a choice, £89-109 for the repair only (payment up front over the phone), OR £15 a month for TEN months for the repair PLUS 12 months total D&G insurance

ParticipantRe: Prices

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint cond dryer timer
only other thing could be the float switch? that cuts the heater supply too
hotpnt
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint cond dryer timer
no, they used to a few years ago though, you should be able to check that you have voltage out of the timer to the stats/heater to confirm though, also make sure its not stuck in reverse (no heat on)
