It also has a lower element as well as the upper, grill element, three elements in total. In most cases if you actually look at the element you may be able to see signs of surface damage, you should be able to access the element from inside without toucing any electrical components by removing the inner rear liner. Power off first. :zap:

ModeratorRe: Serious Internet Explorer flaw.
This exploit is now being used to infect PC’s with both trojans and worms, infections have gone through the roof in past couple of days.
Official microsoft response here. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/securi … 12840.mspx
Click on the ‘Suggested Actions ‘ link further down that page for a more detailed explantion of my first post. This is a nasty one, it is now being used in infected e mails as well as web sites. One virus is called bifrose, a backdoor trojan. Be very careful what you open. Even if you use the small work around I posted , if you open an infected file in a program such as ‘Paint’ it will infect your system.
Well over 11.000 web sites now known to be infected.
A more rounded explanation can be found here http://www.isc.sans.org/diary.php?storyid=994
together with an unofficial patch from a guy who is reckoned to be as good as anyone that MS employs.Having read through that last article again it could be that I am safe. 🙂 My PC is just over 3 months old. XP SP2 with an AMD Operon 64 bit CPU.
What is DEP (Data Execution Protection) and how does it help me?
With Windows XP SP2, Microsoft introduced DEP. It protects against a wide range of exploits, by preventing the execution of ‘data segements’. However, to work well, it requires hardware support. Some CPUs, like AMD’s 64 Bit CPUs, will provide full DEP protection and will prevent the exploit.iadom
ModeratorRe: Creda Contour Solarglo – oven failed
Not an easy fault to diagnose from this distance, could be door switch as you say, more likely to be the main oven stat/control. If the element had failed the fan would still run. Please make sure you isolate from the mains if you intend to procede further. Or click on the link in my sig to see if we have someone in your area that can help.

ModeratorRe: grill works but oven doesn’t!
Model number would be a big help, look around and under the door, however most cookers have a separate element for the oven , failure of which is a very common cause of this fault.
It will be almost impossible to identify which part you need without a model number. You could try posting a couple of pics to see if someone has a clue. Has the cooker got any name other than Ariston on the front?
If you can get to the back of the cooker there may be a number there.
Or get in touch with the previous owners, if possible.EDIT. I can see one model of Ariston oven that is listed as Black/Single.
Model number is FM87FBK. I can confirm that it does have a separate oven element.iadom
ModeratorRe: “Melting” ceramic hob
She should have a look at the instruction manual that came with the hob. You will almost certainly find that it advises using only certain types of pans on a ceramic hob. I don’t think that enamelled based pans etc are suitable.

MW wrote:Is that an Indesit part number?
And what sort of cost are we talking?
That is the genuine part number, around £7.00 plus postage, vat etc.
worth mentioning that the genuine belt or a suitable alternative is electrically conductive to disperse static charges that build up in the drum/bearings.iadom
ModeratorRe: Indesit WIE127UK – Just got very NOISY!
A new belt is the answer. These belts are ‘stretchy’ belts so there is no means of adjusting the tension. Part No: is C00082812 a quick e mail to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should do the trick. The new belt will be very tight to refit.

ModeratorRe: Indesit washing machine Belt
And a happy New Year to you, Can you give us the full model number including any letters at the end. Is this a genuine belt or have you just got one of a similar size. The correct belt is a stretchy belt and a normal belt will keep coming off. Is the machine fairly noisy? if so the bearings may have failed which will also cause the belt to fly off.

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint WMA56P (March 04) knocking
As Hotpoints labour is virtually £90.00, eastlmarks advice is very sound. The possibilty that no parts are required is very high. Also you will almost certainly get a local independant engineer in a third of the time that hotpoint may take to get to you.

It seems the information on Partfinder may be incorrect, and/or not cover every production variant. Has anyone else come across this type of issue with Partfinder?
All together now, 😥 every issue of PF is full of holes and always has been.

ModeratorRe: Poor Wash Results
In this area the liquitabs are a real pain, our water is very soft and even one sachet can cause oversoaping, if they then use a fabric conditioner this lifts the detergent and deposits it back on the clothes like a white fluffy scum.

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint WM76 Error 15
martin036 wrote:Martin,
The machine does go into “heating” mode and heat the water before it turns itself off after about 15mins with the E15 error, so would that rule out the heater element being the cause of the E15?
I need to sort out what is causing this E15 before deciding whether it is economically viable to replace the bearings in the first instance. What makes this even more infuriating for me is that I have a matching (“Linen” coloured) Hotpoint tumble drier on a stacking kit over the washing machine, so if the cost of repairing this is too much I am going to be stuffed in obtaining a matching new or secondhand replacement.
The heater can still function even if only slightly damaged by the drum as a consequence of bearing/spider failure. however the very small current leakage can give an E15 code just as Martin says. If your choice is between having your machine repaired or buying recon/secondhand then have yours repaired every time. your machine will almost certainly have an FHP motor, a good reliable piece of kit, a recon may have the older less reliable GDA motor in it. As a word of advice, you should never run a machine that is leaking or making a noise, you should stop it at once and get it seen to. It is far cheaper in the long run. 🙂

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint WD62 module connections / not drying
All look to be in the correct positions, I’m assuming that the blue connector on the botton edge is not exactly adjacent to the five terminal plug. The two black wires from the green plug on the top of the board should go down to the pump and those from the bottom of the board should go to the heater temp control device. Its a pity you don’t have the original timer, in over 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of cases a link wire and a simple soldering job is all that is needed, I rarely replace a control unit for this fault.
I’m afraid that from this distance I cannot think of anything else that could be causing your problems, possibly a faulty dryer timer or other wiring dislodged, but that would be pure speculation.
