Re: Hotpoint BWM129 Flashing Delay and Door Locked Lights

Those lights are supposed to signify fault code F08. If you do a search of this forum and enter’ 8 flashes, Indesit’ you will get some idea of your problem. 🙁

The manual on the UK model of this machine simply says, lights 1+3+4 is a ‘non operative module’.

Don’t think they fill which much water, especially without clothes in. Just covering the lifters is what I see most of the time.

Read the first post in the Simple PCB repairs thread at the top of this forum, all will be revealed. 😉

With most noises it is actually better to hear them.

Virtually impossible to do anything other than guess the cause.

It could be worn suspension units, broken support springs, broken drum support spider, a foreign body inside the drum etc.

TBH an examination by an engineer is your best option.

I will repeat what I said earlier, if you have a sound wall socket and good continuity from the mains plug to the mains filter and there is no sign of life then it is 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain the main board has failed. The power does not go direct to the on/off switch which itself is part of the console facia pcb.

Thanks for the offer Mark, I have picked some up from the local Maplins but even they are nearly three times the price of Farnell. 🙁

Did two in one day last week, no sign of doming on one of them either.

Re: Hotpoint washer drier not working.

Martins post whilst not being constructive is understandable. You did say in your first post that your ‘competence with electrics is reasonably good’ yet you seem to be unable to grasp the concept of doing a simple continuity test between the individual pins on the mains plug and the mains filter contacts?

For what it’s worth I still think the chances are that the main PCB is goosed. 🙁

Re: Hotpoint washer drier not working.

Pictures not needed, the mains filter is the square block the mains cable is part of on these machines. If there is no sign of burning on the small plug that goes into the top of the mains filter and you have continuity from the live and neutral pins on the plug to the filter then its 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain the main pcb has failed if the rest of the machine is totally dead.

The Haynes manual is a very basic manual, just imagine if they did a single Haynes manual for all makes of cars, how much use would that actually be. 😉

It is OK for basic, simple tasks such as pump blockages etc but not much of a help with the electrical side TBH.

I have been doing this job for over 47 years and I am still learning. 😀

Re: Fills with water on Dry Cycle – Hotpoint AQUARIUS WDAL 8

Ignore the flashing lights, the error codes a given by reading the right hand vertical lights using the bottom five lights and counting from the bottom up.

You have light 4 on steady, sadly this is the dreaded F08 or 8 flash fault.

Do a search of this forum and enter Indesit and 8 flashes, you will get some idea of the problem you have. 🙁

By using the Partfinder DVD, available from The Indesit Company at a very reasonable £66.00 every six months. :rolls:
