A reed switch is switching on and off many times every second during fill; albeit only at 5v I believe. So that’s quite a bit of wear n’ tear on the contacts. Not surprising they can go intermittent sometimes. Cheaper than chips from RS.

Never have found one where that worked 😕 .
Could be a brush sticking or making intermittent contact due to wear. (In case you just checked continuity.)

What are you like Martin?
I see you’ve gone back to your old avatar to avoid confusion with the “new” Dave on the block 😆 .

Slightly off topic. Went to a Bosch WFK6010GB/03 with similar problem today. Could not find any fault other than cable ties securing harness to motor had broken away leaving harness hanging loose. I thought this might cause a wobbly tacho connection and re-attached the harness. There was a couple of mm. play in drum though and a faint knock was audible on empty spin. I could not determine if this was bearings or shaft wear. If bearings, could turn out to be a nice earner and pleasant experience a few months hence. If shaft, it’s going to be BER as drum is £174 + usual from wholesaler. Found sticker inside indicating date of manufacture as 1989.

Hmm. The customer says. I wouldn’t worry too much.

Simplybearings.co.uk do a good range of these seals with lots of info on profiles and sizes. Also very helpful on phone. The seal normally would fit in a groove on the rear face of the spider as Delahart said.

Maybe they couldn’t find the front door key?

Stuck that one back in today, er yesterday, and it worked.

Would definitely check pcb first. I think it’s behind fascia. Have had relay dry joint on Zanussi a couple of times. If not that, tube type heaters tend to go. Can probably be checked from pcb wiring. Try Connect for circuits.

Looks like a very common shape. Elementman gives all dimensions of all elements he stocks together with OEM p/no.s. I often browse through there when I’m looking for something to match an overpriced part, then buy it off Connect or Masterpart.

Bo, why not trawl through this site?

Sadly, no. I was more implying that another post in spares or classifieds might be worth a try. But it would be unlikely to succeed because fewer people read those forums, I should think.
💡 Would be good if there was some sort of, “currently wanted list” side panel on main pages which would kind of throb to attract everybody’s attention. Then we could claim even more that this site is, “helping the planet.”
But it must be a lot of work to make cahnges to the layout of the site. Not moaning really, but haven’t seen any sign of the big new search button yet.

ParticipantRe: zan fle1416 motor issues
Sounds like the motor is completely shot. Lucky if you didn’t blow the board.
There are so many different Sole motors for Zanussi it would be a nightmare to find the right one s/h. If he won’t pay for a new motor, give him the old motor and tell him to search e-bay for himself. (Notwithstanding that somebody on here could possibly have broken one of these up recently.)

On spin, it rotates quite fast (30 revolutions in total) for 19 seconds before the drain pump starts to drain, so with a wash full of clothes, it pushes water back out of the soap dispenser.
Any ideas gratefully accepted, please.Thanks,
Pigpen.
Well, assuming Jim is right, and he ought to know, then maybe in a normal state there is somewhere else for pressure to escape, for example a vent somewhere at the top, and that’s got blocked?

I am lenient on people who have a sense of humour. Going to see a young woman later today who has left a string of messages on my answerphone over the last 24 hours, suggesting mild desperation (“loads of washing to do”) but tempered with realism (“perhaps you’re away on holiday”).
The last one, which prompted me to ring back without too much further delay, “Hi, it’s your stalker here from B… Street, ….” 😆
A refreshing change from the, “Oh, how terrible to have no gleaming white clothes to wear. If can’t get service within 12 hours we’ll have to go out and buy another one” brigade.
