Hoover are a (lucrative) pain for this problem. There are plenty of ways to fix it back usually without buying parts, and making it stronger than it ever would have been. Suggest search “hoover buttons” & tick all terms.

Not sure how these work. A lot of older machines take water from hot valve only to main wash compt. Pressure and temp. can vary. Others have mechanical selectors to direct water which sometimes get disturbed during a repair. I think this could be taking in hot and cold together and due to pressure being affected by some other factor (e.g. other users on same system?) water is not always hot enough to dissolve powder or at high enough pressure to do more than trickle through valve. Most sensible customers just give up using the dispenser and get a ball or some tabs. You could try explaining the undoubted benefits of that route.

£3 extra for asking what replacement machine do I recommend before I’ve had 30 secs to look at this one.

Have you tried a search? I recall seeing masses of threads on these.

Simon, there is loads on this in this forum. Just do a search e.g. “ZWD1* start flashing” tick find all terms. Or search for “40Megohm” 😉 . But can also be damp.

Re: Hotpoint BFV620B PCB Repair ?

I just realised you’re talking about a BIT100 board, right? Like I have in my hand here and I see the triacs you’re referring to. Unfortunately you’re going to find it difficult to track down the right replacement if it’s like mine as they’re marked PH5n or PH5o and don’t seem to be easily tracked down via Google. Best option wd be get one off scrap board. It doesn’t look like adjoining components would be damaged. The numbers tend to burn off the resistors if they are – you’d need to look very closely to see it. Not too sure about smd capacitors. The blue thing on the other side is a sort of protection device I believe. You could compare it with the other one but i think they always read open circuit.

The black (or white) rectangular thing with five short legs near heater tags in corner of board. I replaced one once but it made no difference and had to buy a board. However, I’ve just done a second one and it’ll be going back into customer’s machine in next week or so and I’m very hopeful as contacts inside were quite well burnt. No external damage visible. Not much else likely to be traceable on this board, though it’s worth quick checking resistors, diodes and triacs.

Would suggest you re-phrase the title of your thread to include make and model using the “edit” button. This will attract attention from the right sources (probably Jim) who can supply your diagram.

Have you tried some searches on here? Penguin’s the acknowledged expert on these, though possibly not the only one. Somewhere abouts there’s an actual article what he’s wrote. I’ll see if I can find it.

Re: Need a wrg diag for BSH WFT2800 W/D shwg mtr connections

Thankyou Martin. You were quite right, one brush had stuck in its holder. I had realised this might happen but had fiddled around and thought I had sorted it. Reason was I had used wrong brushes (too long and with flex in centre) because I didn’t have right ones with me and wanted to get job done in one hit as customer had loads of washing to do. Reason I had not had right brushes with me was because first ones up on Connect were standard type and I had thought I’d be in for some easy money 😳 . Didn’t realise what I needed as other type were only shown as complete end plate.
I had measured through tags with motor assembled in each of the two ways and seemed to have believable (though different) readings either way round. Anyway, all going well again now and hopefully won’t be called back too soon.

Had a bit of a google round and things were pointing this way. Could be worth an e-mail. http://gwhitespares.webs.com/
Alternatively, there are firms that will manufacture a one off element for about £60.

    Re: PCB Repair ?

Triacs are often labelled as Q and a number (on the adjacent bit of board), though not always. Something down the line has normally caused this sort of damage so you need to follow the tracks and wiring to see if you can find out what component in the machine has caused it to blow. Or just megger all components as well as whole machine to see if there’s a short to earth. Or could be L-N short, possibly only apparent when machine switched on. Even then, there could be other components damaged on the board which look OK. It’s a time consuming but absorbing hobby .
