I think that’s only in the washers.

I’ve never yet managed to break one 🙁 but I’m looking forward to it now, ’cause it’s gonna look so cool when I instantly perform this trick.8)

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool tumble dryer fuse
I think that’s a big commercial job? If so, is it a thermal fuse? If so, it may say on the panel just above where it’s situated to also change one of the stats when it goes (the one next to it, IIRC.) I didn’t see that instruction label until I’d been to a machine about three times.
Still, just as likely to be an airflow problem. People are inclined to neglect the need for a big fat aluminium vent hose with a short run to an unobstructed outlet.

ParticipantRe: dwf417 constant flashing
From the 85 code I get the impression it’s a Whirlpool. DW sounds like it could be a dishwasher. Putting those two clues together, 10 flashes (if = beeps) is in code book as “sensor failure.” The plot thickens.
Anyway, I’d look at the flow meter. If there is one.

Wrong forum, should be in “tips ‘n tricks” sticky 😉

On thing I have found out though from all this is that YP no longer do FREE entries. They stopped that this year as they are not obliged to list all similar businesses that don’t wish to advertise with them. Currently Thomson still do but YP have pulled the plug on that one! 😯Ah that explains the rash of messages on my answerphone from various reps this last week about the various offers they have for me :rolls: . I was thinking of calling back out of politeness but I don’t think I’ll bother calling YP in that case.

Yes Martin, that is indeed the major factor for me but I haven’t bothered to make any outlandish mods to any of my bikes. Two office type panniers on the back and what won’t fit in gets bungee’d on top.
Jim, I don’t doubt you can do the whole job in 45 minutes. Me, I’m quite happy with the slow and deliberate pace of life down here.Still no answer to my original question. Will probably pm Phidom about it later. Be nice to talk to somebody with in-depth knowledge. 😛

iadom wrote:Well with the drum spider at £13.13 ex vat from Masterpart why would you risk it. 😉
I probably wouldn’t risk it with one like that in the photo but with one that was less damaged, yes I would. Especially as it would do away with the need to undo those torx bolts and risk damage to the drum with all the wrenching and messing around. Plus hassle/expense of obtaining new bolts.
As no-one has directly answered my question I will have to assume that none of you knows for sure. I seem to remember it was Phidom who originally brought this to my attention. Not having to change the spider is a big plus for me. I don’t have a workshop where I can just bring back complete drums for re-conditioning. I do all such jobs on site.

I was under the impression from reading in this very forum that the state of the shaft is not critical because the inner part of the seal moves relative to the outer part of the seal. That is to say that the inner part of the seal with its ridges can be debor’d to the worn shaft and no H2O shall there pass through. Can someone confirm or deny this as it would be handy to know for next time.

It’s most probably one of these. Check dimensions and coil voltage.

Ah, maybe you’re talking about insulation resistances?
That is a whole different area.

Still 16 days to get a bid together. Anybody got a million to put with my couple grand?

ParticipantRe: zanussi zdt 6053 not heating
I’m really not too sure about that reading. IIRC, an ntc (= negative temperature coefficient) should decrease in resistance as temp rises. (Test by monitoring as you hold it against hot surface of teacup.) However, I’ve so seldom found a faulty ntc myself that I would still be doubtful of that being the cause.
Relay on board would still be my prime suspect, a dry joint can be almost invisible in it’s early stages during which it is intermittent. Ditto with relay contacts inside relay plastic cover. (Relay is easy to change – do search here.) But I’m not familiar with the particular machine and there could be other stuff in circuit, e.g. p/sw?
Intermittent faults – bane of our lives but OTOH satisfying when you do finally find them.
If you have facility to uplift to workshop, then would probably make life easier.

Look for burnt relay terminal on board. See simple pcb repairs “sticky” if unfamiliar with such things.

Ah, yes, I forgot, I looked under TRICITY BENDIX!
Left hand menu > Washing machine > T/bendix > model > pnc> Mediator tab > drop down menu.
