I can see the sense in some of the consumables, but not spares as they are worth next to nothing unless you have a buyer for them. Even at that though, good service sells.K.
That’s spot on.
I was looking on e-bay for an element last night and came across a seller in Cheshire or somewhere selling second hand parts at relatively high prices. He was only managing to sell about one in ten listings along with some re-con machines. However it was looking worthwhile, to my eye. Fact is e-bay gets you a worldwide audience. If somebody wants something unusual, that’s where you’ll find them looking.
Mind you, prices will go down a bit once we all start trying it.
Oh, and GEC Hotpoint motors are getting scarce and beginning to sell reliably for £25 – £35.

Could be one of these,
simple pcb repairs
see first post.
(Although Jim credits lasty with the discovery, BTW, I’m fairly sure it was Martin114 who found it first but I can’t find the post.)

I’m thinking????….hmmmm?….Tony our good & reliable friend @ EMW…….now there’s an idea? 💡Yes, yes. That is the main direction I am going, of course. However, you’d be the first to admit that I would make about £40 more on the job if I could do it myself. And you’d probably admit that you’ve fixed the odd board yourself recently where formerly you might have given it to someone else to repair.
And you’d advocate that we have to be ready to learn in this business; if not we go down. Wouldn’t you?
It’s OK if you just want to use your momentum to get you to the finish line and looking for new ways to make money is not essential. But for those of us who are not yet in the happy position of being lined up for the comfy retirement package, we have to keep living off our wits!
And anyway, it’s more fun!
And Tony will always be a step ahead; cause he’s constantly learning too. So you don’t need to worry yourself about his business viability.
Rant over.

Got same model similar fault. Two out of three solenoids can be going at some points. Pressure sw. operates perfectly as usual. Light is flashing too rapidly to count 😕 😕
If the triac(s) controlling water valves have gone down, why would they do that? I’m tempted to, “have a go” with the soldering iron but am not too confident that it’s as simple as replacing a triac or two.

PS:Only sign of damage to board is soapy water mark (long dried) along two edges. Ah, wonder if I’ve just answered my own question?leavemetogetonwithit

You can get the shaft seal for £8.03 direct from Bosch 613084.
You can get bearings any size you like (should they be something odd) from http://www.simplybearings.co.uk
Get the seal first and you’ll have a good clue what size the big one will be .

Still nothing? Does this mean everyone has thrown them out?

ParticipantRe: Bosch dishwasher SGV46M43GB/01 FD870900403
I’d be surprised if Bosch had managed to design a dishwasher susceptible to water ingress from the worktop area. You’d expect them to have thought of that. So I’d be looking elsewhere, e.g. heater, circulation pump etc..

ParticipantRe: Zanussi ZWF1621
What megger readings are you getting on whole appliance and on heater and motor, individually? It is well known that Lux electronics are a bit sensitive that way. I’d be wary of any component under the 40Megohm level.

Seem to remember an open circuit heater giving rise to a “not start” machine for me. Don’t remember what lights were on or off.

ParticipantRe: Zanussi FJS1597W don’t know what else to look at???
Would do live testing to see if power getting to heater. If not, maybe it’s stat or thermistor (not sure what your model uses) or possibly module / stat connectors.
Can’t see what else could be holding things up.

And that was absolutely spot on, too. 😀

Did first one yesterday. Flimsy start pause actuator had partly broken so I welded it with solder iron tip and reassembled whole thing a bit more securely. Then gave customer a demonstration of exactly how little pressure was necessary to operate button.
She then told me that the selector switch was a bit wonky too and needed to be tweaked sometimes to get it to programme. Always happy to learn these things after I’ve re-assembled everything :rolls: .

BTW, Helo, diagram you referenced was the right one, thanks.leavemetogetonwithit

Good tip, will remember that.

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFR3267GB/04 – Spin Problems?
Bit of a risk to change the bearing without being sure that’s what’s causing trouble. Did you remove belt and try spinning drum by hand to get a feel for the resistance the bearings were offering? Ditto motor bearings.
