ParticipantRe: Knee Pads
They do make trousers with pockets over the knees to accept knee pads. I had some once from a charity shop but put them back in the charity clothes bin after keeping them for a couple of years and hardly ever wearing them because they hang so badly when you’re cycling. (Barrage of witty comments anticipated.) The kneeler pads for gardening are very lightweight but a bit bulky and inconvenient. I have a bit of cheap karrimat cut to fit in one of my toolbags. Not as thick as a kneeler pad but helps.

Just come across this table on a retail spares site. Could be of use someday.

This sounds vaguely similar to the sort of shutdown that occurs when the dryer solenoid goes intermittent. Although it would normally throw up E10, it wouldn’t be surprising if it didn’t always. It’ll probably be green in colour. It’ll work when the machine first starts but pack in when it warms up (the coil that is). Could be worth a try.

Does it do this on the timed cycle as well? Or is it just on one of the sensor cycles? If it doesn’t have a damp load in on the sensor cycle, it will do as you describe. If it does it with a suitable load in, then it’s probably something to do with the sensing mechanism, a brush that makes contact with the outside of the drum thus enabling conductivity of load to be measured.

You should definitely check insulation resistance on the drier element. If it’s below 40 megohms it can cause all sorts of grief. Similar rules apply to motor, often low due to damp, look for condensation on brushes holders. And I’ve read that wash heater can also cause similar probs, though I’ve not seen one myself, probably because limescale is unknown here.

I think that’s the green dryer solenoid coil which goes open circuit after ten minutes operation.

If it’s got a recirculation pump, you may find that it is f….erm…not working.
If it’s burnt out, it might have taken the ACS108 a/c switch on the board with it. I put all this in a thread somewhere about last April.

Ah, found it. http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … highlight=February 4, 2010 at 11:16 pm in reply to: White Knight 767C – condenser drier – water in fan chamber #310888leavemetogetonwithit

I’d say yes to both those questions, though I’ve only done a couple of the knights who say white.

Rob, in case you haven’t done this job yet, (hurry up! we want to know what happens), you could have a look at the clutch shoes on Connect 5031680994926 which will show you what shape they are when new. That way you’ll know if the amount of wear is significant.

I think you get the same effect if you simply tick the “search for all terms” option.

It’s a good thing you inserted the word “various” in the right spot there, Chris. Could have caused a few Ooh matron’s otherwise. Ah, but Martin’s not around. Is he away living the dream again?

Got one I just pulled off an old motor under the desk. It’s hard plastic, 2mm thick, (outside dia. 17mm) with 2mm thick flange at end. Should be OK to wrap some insulation tape round peg and maybe an inlet hose washer over it first, to substitute for the flange.
If not, pm me your address and I’ll send you this one, though it has a section broken away from the flange.
