Hmm. Not encountered that myself as far as I recall. Usually just get odd programme refusals/shutdowns. Does sound like there’s some sort of pcb/display pcb problem there. 😕

Could try the old method of going round disconnecting things (I’m especially thinking heater element) until machine starts to behave.

I don’t think that would have damaged the pcb. The whole reason machines refuse to work with these low insulation situations is because the “danger” is being sensed and the pcb is going into self protect mode. At least that is what I have understood from reading various contributions to these forums. It’s normally only catastrophic failures (esp. shorting locks) which get past the protection circuits.

UKW ought to send a spy in there.

    Re: Too Hasty

Went to a well looked after ZWF1415W this afternoon around 3pm. Replaced the worn down brushes with some temporary ones ’till I get the right sort after Xmas and all seemed to be well again. However the lady had mentioned that she thought it wasn’t heating. I thought it rather unlikely that there would be a second issue, especially as we don’t get many element failures in this soft water area and was eager to get on to next job. Told her to keep an eye on it and let me know; I only live a few hundred yards away.
6.30pm phone rings. Could I not order the new brushes please. I was told that the timer was now sticking and not moving on. I said I don’t think that type moves anyway. So they said also it won’t take in water. I said I don’t think it’ll be anything serious I’ll come round in the morning. He said well I’ve got my bro’ coming round in the morning to take me to Currys, she just wants a new one. He asked what I’d recommend. I first tried to persuade him to hang on to the old one then gave him a list of makes to avoid which left only Bosch which he was pretty keen on anyway. So, what can you do? I got paid for the work I’d done but I’d have liked to have sorted it properly but if they don’t give you a chance.
    🙁

38 Megohm could be low enough to cause a problem. (In the service manual of a Zanussi I was reading the other day 40 Meg was specified as minimum acceptable for this component.) Try and see if the machine will operate with the dryer element disconnected. Ditto motor.

Well, I’m sure you will find it for yourself, if you are interested and you didn’t hear it already. So, here instead is a link to the same information in text and graph form which is probably easier to assimilate http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8417205.stm
Worth a read if you have a head for statistics.

You could listen to the latest edition of “More or Less” on radio4. I think it was the latest; just possibly the one before. One subject discussed was the myths and realities surrounding which income sectors pay the most taxes. Conclusions were different to what I would have expected. I’ll post a link later.

Doh! Just this week passed on two WMA bearing changes to them. Might end up having to do them myself after Xmas now 🙁 .

Your best bet is to call EMW Monday am and explain situation. They will usually send out another board if they’ve got a few in stock, to save you having to go back twice.
