I think CPC are part of Farnell. If you order from CPC you have to pay a carriage charge(?). If you order from http://www.uk.farnell.com carriage is free. (But UPS still can’t always find you :rolls: ).

    Re: Bosch turning to gold?

Never seen this myself but IMO it has to be the silver. Maybe they (or the maid) used a silver cleaner agent on it one day before putting it in the machine. If there was a sufficient quantity of silver ions present during a wash I imagine it could have somehow partially electroplated(?) the stainless, though I’m less certain about the plastic. I would think bshappliancecare would love to hear about it and would probably have seen it all before. Detergent manufacturers will also send you wads of information at the slightest request. (Useful as it saves you money on printing paper as you can use the blank sides 😀 ).

It should not damage the electronics as long as you are careful to make sure that both live and neutral on plug are firmly connected together to one side of the 500v. If you were to accidentally put 500v dc between say neutral only and earth you could easily damage a module. (Could Tony come on and confirm that?). (Perhaps if I type EMW here, his ears will burn 😆 ).

    Re: Performing Rights Society

Nathalie has just been on the phone again. Unfortunately I picked it up instead of leaving it to the answerphone. Had I recognised the number I would have allowed her to waste more space on my answering system.
So that you don’t waste your time picking up, the number is:
    (01425)462790
I tried not to answer any questions, replying with such phrases as, “What business is it of yours?” etc. I explained that I was annoyed with PRS for wasting paper and my time and that if they wished to find out if I was playing music to anyone they’d have to send somebody round. She thanked me for my time and that was that.
Poor Nathalie sounded somewhat depressed. She must get a lot of this in her job. I hope she’ll find something more rewarding soon.

Timer a common cause of this. Don’t recall ever having one of those modules go. Think I threw away all but a couple cause they were so damn’ reliable 😈 . Think emw do the timer recon.

I’ve been banging my head on exact same problem on a Prima LPR600 for some time now. (Doesn’t have OWI). For the time being the customer is supposed to be trying different wash cycles. He’d rather wash at 70 degrees for the machine’s remaining life than lay out £100 on a module and I think that does make economic sense. I’ll be interested to know how you get on.

Re: ZWD1472W 914603301/00 aborting pogramme straight after

Have discovered little hole blown out of a semiconductor near the edge of the board and well away from the processor. Googling what was left of the inscription on the component brought up references to data sheets. This thing is a glorified triac which automatically protects the processor in cases of overload. Have ordered a couple from Farnell, will update when successful repair completed, he says full of confidence. 😀

    Re: hotpoint wt foreign object.

See my post here, servis tub repair
That’s how I’ve been doing it for coin holes in the bottom of tubs.
On the top of a tub where the water is only going to be pressing during spin, I would make a perfectly round hole of the minimum possible size to get the sock out or a wire in to get it moving towards the heater hole, and use a suitable rubber blanking grommet and debor. You’d have to be careful to choose the right spot for the hole, away from ridges and curves as far as possible. Soap dispenser hoses and steam vent hoses fix to the top of tubs using this principle so what’s the problem? Obviously you get your ducks in a row (as Ken would say) by finding the grommet first, then getting the right size of drill.
I reckon none of this will be necessary anyway,as suedehead will get it from the heater hole if that’s at the back.

Andy, The OWI = optical water indicator not flowmeter.

    Re: hotpoint wt foreign object.

    Hi rolf,
I’ve successfully repaired several plastic drums on Servis ( including one condemned as needing new drum and BER by engineer called out under guarantee) and Hotpoint which have been holed by coins etc. Good money to be made in helping people to not BER their machine. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, nobody’s forcing you, it was just a suggestion. It doesn’t take too much genius to work out a way of re-sealing using appropriate method and materials so you end up with a drum which is at least as strong and quite possibly stronger in the repair area than it was originally! (Hint: don’t just plug with hard setting putty as plastic flexes).

Chris, thanks for the clarification. I’m now equipped to better inform the customer.

Ah, so it will unlock if the insulation problem can be sorted? Wonder if I should give it a last chance.

    Re: hotpoint wt foreign object.

If you can’t get it from the heater hole and it’s a welded tub, you could drill a hole through the top/back of the tank and poke a wire down. Reseal using appropriate methodology. Sounds drastic, but if the alternative were a new drum…

    Re: whirlpool element

The answer is simple and has been much discussed in the General Trade Forum. A search for “free call out” or some such should bring up the threads. If my analysis of previous discussions is correct, most people on here don’t advertise free call out and don’t think much of those who do.
If your customer expects you to walk away empty handed after doing the diagnostics, you’re better off missing out on working for that customer until they learn better manners.

So these Chinamen import Italian bits and pieces, add a cheap electronic board, made locally, and re-export them here? Or do they assemble them here when the takeaway’s closed?
